Bottle (2005) @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. Dark black / brown color with a average fair lacing brown head. Aroma is heavy malty, dark chocolate, coffe, sweet. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter, coffe, chocolate with a long duration, very smooth. Full body, soft carbonation. Just love it !

RB #999. From 25 cL bottle huge thanks to Grovlam. Pours dark/black with a creamy brown head. Liqourice and alcohol aroma. Flavour is chocolate, mild liqourice with an alcohol note. Clear alcohol presence. Dark and dry finish of alcohol, malt and liqourice. This is good, but no doubt that the Kaggen version is that bit closer to perfection.

A black beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted with some notes of chocolate. The flavor is sweet roasted with notes of chocolate, coffee, plums, and over ripe fruit. Thanks to the brewery for giving this to RBESG for free.

Bottled. Dark brown/ruby red colour with brownish red head. Aroma of burnt sugar, roasted malts and alcohol. Flavour is roasted malts, alcohol and malts. The alcohol gives a very "warming" feeling. A porter brought to the extremes. Superb!

Sampled draught at Hagges Bärsklubb, Nynäshamn.
Very black, rich brown creamy head. Loads of licorice. Creamy and full bodied, really rich and chewy. Surprisingly dry, a hint of molasses. Salty finish.

Pitch black color with brown head, short retention. Mild aroma of roasted malt and cardboard, light tar. Full bodied, with round mouthfeel; good flavor of roasted malt and dark chocolate, quite rich, with some residual sweetness; but the signs of age are too evident: liquorice (too much), tar, cardboard. Strong bitterness, leading to a roasty final with notes of wood and oxidization.
Good but declining.

Black color, with brownish head, nice but not very persistent. The aroma is chocolatey, with some cream, cardboard, roasted malt, tar. The body is round and the mouthfeel smooth, a real pleasure; strong chocolate flavor, with moderate residual bitterness, and traces of liquorice; some tar, and light salt as well; but the bitterness is fading, and the beer is missing a better biting character.

2010-05-05, cask at Mikkeller Bar, opening night, 2009, 7-4-8-4-15=38
Black color. Light aroma. Soft mouthfeel, good chocolate flavor, a bit oily. Nothing impressive though.

2008-02-07, vintage 2006, 8-5-8-5-17=43
Beautiful black oil, with a thick creamy beige head. Very good aroma, roasted malt first, caramel, light sweet liquorice. Strong body, a bit oily, with enough sweetness; very powerful flavor, caramel and roasted malt, very smooth. Ends like a top quality 85%-cocoa chocolate.

2006-03-19, vintage 2005, 8-5-9-5-18=45
Black color; brown thick head; served at 12 °C in the original Courage Imperial Russian Stout glass it’s a beauty!
The aroma, having both roasted malt and a touch of vanilla, smells like dark chocolate; later, also some light aroma of leather and tobacco.
Full mouthfeel, but not sticky; malt, roasted malt, caramel, liquorice, coffee; some sweetness opposing the roasted malt bitterness; the ingredients are very well blended together. The final is basically roasted malt, but full bodied and very long.
An incredible brew. Thanks Maya for letting me try this beauty in the best conditions.
