‘Gansett’s limited-edition Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout, a unique collaboration between two iconic Rhode Island companies, is set to hit shelves in just 2 weeks. A custom blend of Narragansett’s bittersweet milk stout with dark, delicious Autocrat Coffee makes for a delightful beer that is more Rhode Island than Roger Williams himself. Since the 1890’s, Narragansett Beer and Autocrat Coffee have been home-grown Rhode Island favorites. With more than 100 years of shared heritage, the two local legends joined forces to celebrate the art of craft brewing and bring New England an emblematic brew that pays homage to their history. The full-bodied milk stout is enriched with the robust flavor of Autocrat Coffee to achieve an extraordinary taste experience. Brewed under the supervision of award-winning Brewmaster Sean Larkin, Narragansett’s Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout delivers a flavorful, smooth, dark brew with notes of roasted barley, chocolate malt and rich crystal malt. The exacting touch of hops provides just the right amount of bitterness to balance the sweet notes of the malts and milk sugar.

Lactose. En bouche, corps moyen-faible légèrement crémeux. Finale sèche en caffè mocha. Facile à boire et même plaisante.

The aroma, as expected, is mainly of roasted coffee. The color is dense black--basically opaque--I couldn’t see through it with a bright light directly behind it. It has a tall, foamy, prolonged, light tan head that leaves attractive lacing. A good combination of sweetness and bitterness of the coffee (I detest straight coffee due to its bitterness but love it when sweetened enough). Full bodied, creamy mouth feel with a slightly above average carbonation for the style that leaves a little zing on the tongue over a long finish. Overall, a really enjoyable beer--one of my favorites right now and I’m bummed it is scheduled to be a limited release.

Yes please! Poured from a can, compliments of our good neighbor Neil. Decent head, great lacing, creamy and delicious. Mocha aroma, tart, some spiciness, smooth going down. Great beer.

Can at home. This was surprising. I’ve passed this beer up a few times in the store but the price was right and I was feeling like a stout this time. The aroma is fresh coffee, lactose sweetness, pennies, cocoa, chocolate, roasted malts. Not too bad. This thing looks great in my snifter. Big khaki head and a nice dark body. Flavor is all roasted malts, sweetness up front, chocolate and coffee galore. It’s not too sweet, very roasty, light carbonation. A nice brew!

Bottle. Dark cola with a thick khaki head. Aroma is coffee grinds, a little chocolate and some dark fruit. Taste adds some roasted malt and burnt brown sugar. Soft pillowy mouthfeel. Really well balanced. Very nice surprise.
