COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
‘Gansett’s limited-edition Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout, a unique collaboration between two iconic Rhode Island companies, is set to hit shelves in just 2 weeks. A custom blend of Narragansett’s bittersweet milk stout with dark, delicious Autocrat Coffee makes for a delightful beer that is more Rhode Island than Roger Williams himself. Since the 1890’s, Narragansett Beer and Autocrat Coffee have been home-grown Rhode Island favorites. With more than 100 years of shared heritage, the two local legends joined forces to celebrate the art of craft brewing and bring New England an emblematic brew that pays homage to their history. The full-bodied milk stout is enriched with the robust flavor of Autocrat Coffee to achieve an extraordinary taste experience. Brewed under the supervision of award-winning Brewmaster Sean Larkin, Narragansett’s Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout delivers a flavorful, smooth, dark brew with notes of roasted barley, chocolate malt and rich crystal malt. The exacting touch of hops provides just the right amount of bitterness to balance the sweet notes of the malts and milk sugar.

Can from Reynolds314. Aroma of roasted black coffee. Pours black with a huge fluffy tan head. Taste is bitter coffee, roast, brazilnut and iron. A bit harsh but definitely for coffee lovers.

Opaque, medium lacing. Medium body, rather lean, fairly long. Bitter, a little sour, dry, dilute finish. Roast flavors and little hops, commercial coffee taste, tobacco. Ok if nothing better available. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Two iconic Rhode Island companies come together. This beer is brewed with Autocrat coffee NOT Autocrat coffee syrup that is used to make coffee milk. So what you have here is a coffee stout and a very good one in my opinion. This beer pours to a jet black color with a creamy tan head, and a moderate carbonation. The nose is very inviting with aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, and mild roast. The palate is a bit lean but with good dark malt, bitter-sweet chocolate and coffee flavors. This beer finishes with more good chocolate and coffee up front then ends with good, mild dry roasty bitterness that lingers. Well done coffee stout. I would have like a little more body, and a little more coffee aroma and flavor. It should be noted that Narragansett is a regional/contract brewer, and is brewing a beer for broader taste range that the craft beer drinker. This is an excellent beer. It sold out in Rhode Island and other markets in a matter of a few days. I hope this one returns. Not the best coffee milk stout I’ve had from a RI brewer. I prefer Woonsocket’s Ravenous Brewery’s Coffee Milk Stout better. That being said, if I had a steady supply of this beer? It would always be in my fridge. If you are a coffee drinker, and enjoy stouts and coffee stouts? You are going to like this beer. I love coffee, I love stout, so this was a no brainer for me. A beer like this suits my tastes perfectly.

Pours dark brown with a tan head and lots of lacing. Aromas of roasted malt and dark chocolate. Flavors of roasted malt but mostly of coffee.

Can left at my house, thanks for the opportunity Brian! Pours a solid dark brown with a creamy off white head that persists forever. Aromas of roast, coffee, cream, and a hint of dark fruit and chocolate. The flavor reminds me of Murphy’s but add some coffee to it. Earthy bitter roasted grains with a bit of cream and a whole lot of coffee. Medium to thin body with a moderate level of carbonation and a creamy silky mouthfeel. Decent enough brew, but a bit heavy on the coffee without enough body or sweetness of something to back it up.

Poured from a tall boy into a pint glass: Pours brown with a nitro-like head. Aroma of chocolate and lactose. Taste is surprisingly good. This is a Gansett? Lots of lactose-sweetness, well balanced with chcoolate and coffee to mask the sweetness a bit. Medium body, nice carbonation, nice little stout!

On tap at Battleship. Pours pure black with a brown head. Aroma is of coffee malts, molasses, chocolate, and coffee extract. Heavy body. Flavors include toasted roasted malts, slight booze, coffee extract, mineral, and dark chocolate. Not really anything I’d have again.

16 oz. can. Nose is lots of French pressed coffee right from the creak of the can, follow by lactose sugar that reminds me of cream in a cup of coffee. The taste, like the aroma starts with pressed coffee upfront with dry roast, chocolate and hints of milk sugar in the giving the brew its sweetness. Body is the lighter side of medium. Overall this is the best brew under this brewery’s name. Well worth a try if you are a coffee stout drinker.

From the one pint can marked 3443-16:49. Dark brown to close to black pour and a short-lived mocha head. Aroma of coffee and cream with dark malts more subtle. Light to medium body. Like the aroma the coffee takes center stage in the flavor but there is a definite earthy ho bitterness at the finale. I liked it.
