‘Gansett’s limited-edition Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout, a unique collaboration between two iconic Rhode Island companies, is set to hit shelves in just 2 weeks. A custom blend of Narragansett’s bittersweet milk stout with dark, delicious Autocrat Coffee makes for a delightful beer that is more Rhode Island than Roger Williams himself. Since the 1890’s, Narragansett Beer and Autocrat Coffee have been home-grown Rhode Island favorites. With more than 100 years of shared heritage, the two local legends joined forces to celebrate the art of craft brewing and bring New England an emblematic brew that pays homage to their history. The full-bodied milk stout is enriched with the robust flavor of Autocrat Coffee to achieve an extraordinary taste experience. Brewed under the supervision of award-winning Brewmaster Sean Larkin, Narragansett’s Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout delivers a flavorful, smooth, dark brew with notes of roasted barley, chocolate malt and rich crystal malt. The exacting touch of hops provides just the right amount of bitterness to balance the sweet notes of the malts and milk sugar.

Had this years ago so the memory is a little rusty. I do recall it being the best from this brewer that I tried. Actually was well balanced, decent texture and flavor. The others I tried from them after this were not so great, but I may go back and try another single of this...especially next time when I visit New England just to drink something local.

16 ounce can shared. The beer is a medium brown with a beige head of foam. The aroma has ashy notes, coffee, bitter roasty notes, and some nutty notes. Strong ash and roast bitterness. Medium body and high carbonation.

16 oz can pours very dark brown with a sizable, frothy tan head. Good retention. Very promising aroma that’s lightly sweet and has good balance between dark roasted grains and fine coffee. Both of these longer on in the mildly bitter aftertaste. Medium+ body and carbonation.

I grew drinking autocrat coffee milk probably had at least one a day for 18 years or so. Anyways this pours dark brownish black one finger beige head. Nose is roasted malt, coffee, and barley. Tastes rather harsh of coffee, barley, Brazil nuts, vanilla and bitter dark chocolate. Only hints of the sweet nectar that is autocrat coffee syrup, probably would have worked better Ina creamier less bitter brew. Great idea though.

Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a black color with a huge creamy dark brown head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was toasty, lactic, chocolate and coffee. The flavor was bitter and roasty with a lactic note followed by cocoa powder, vanilla and a bit of coffee. Medium length finish. Medium body. Solid.

Appearance: Deep brown body, opaque, with a short khaki head on top. Light coating left on top.
Aroma: Earthy coffee with light lactose, slight oxidation, light chocolate.
Taste: Prominent but not super forward coffee, like chewing an espresso bean. Light lactose and some carbonic acid.
Palate: Medium bodied, moderately carbonated.
Overall: Reminds me a lot of the Pepsi Black that used to be out years ago...In a good way.

Light coffee and malt. I love coffee milk and was hoping this might transport me back to my RI memories. Not quite, but it’s a solid beer. Perhaps a bit thin but hits the sweet stout target. Nicely. Drinkable, fairly smooth and a nice full pint can. Even better as it warms slightly and lets more coffee Come through.
