3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
16oz can into a pint. picked up this variety pack, a 12er at that, for only 10.99 in Dalton, MA. Score. Most in depth brew of the batch. Pours a mandarin orange shaded with amber backbone and light brown shades. Taste is burnt malt, sweet, hoppy, fruitful, playful, spicey, and a bit complex than most gansett brews. Solid punch with the abv kick about half way through. A deep bronzed color emerges after the brew settles. Taste lingers a bit tinny, malty, mild hops surface on the pallate. Mouthfeel is dry, sugary, and medium bodied. A nice change of things from the traditional gansett brews. Solid.

(can - 16 oz) Orange pour with a fizzy white head. Sweet malts and slight vegetal notes in the aroma. Sweet and dry malt flavor at the start with a very dry and slightly bitter and metallic finish.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Can: Pours a nice clear with a very light golden amber color and a nice big frothy off white head. Aromas are corn and some grassy hops. Taste is pretty good, but nothing to write home about. Nice light lager body with a bit of a hop bitterness. Itís an easy drinker but nothing that I would ever get too excited about.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
I poured a 16oz can into a lager. It was canned on 12/10/13 and cost $2.50 ($0.16 per ounce).
Appearance: Dark copper/brown proper hue. Clear with visible carbonation. Pours to a large, off white, foamy head which laces and retains fairly well.
Smell: Sweet maltiness with confectionery notes, though there is a generic lager aroma at the core.
Taste: Iíve never been all that impressed by Narragansett beers. I had high hopes for their bock, since this is a stronger brew with more malt itís almost assuredly more flavorful, right? Not really. While thereís nothing particularly wrong with Narragansett Bock, thereís not a whole lot right about it, either. Only the faintest traces of authentic malt character and even fainter traces of authentic Helles Bock lineage.
Since this is technically a macro lager I was worried the beer might taste cheap or flawed, but it does have some real craftiness to it (though just barely). The nose indicated a strong malt presence, but the palette did not deliver. Very mild notes of toffee and caramel with a touch of dry hop bitterness. Perhaps a tad spicy, but mostly just mild bitterness (Iím sensing a theme, here). Some nuttiness comes through on the backend, which is nice, but thereís a little bit of astringency or tanginess in the aftertaste. I think thereís a great beer struggling to get out, but whatís here is only alright.
Drinkability: I was quite surprised to see Narragansett Bock weighs in at 6.5% ABV, since there isnít much flavor to support that weight. This drinks like something much lighter and more overtly sessionable. I do like the delivery as the mouthfeel is soft, smooth and calm to create for a comfortable presence and smooth finish. The aftertaste isnít as clean as it could be, though, and I wouldnít consider the beer refreshing.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours out crystal clear golden orange with a big pillowy head. Smells good, sweet lager yeast profile and some surprising notes of pine hop. Big flavors of honey sweetness along with more bread/yeast flavors. The hops become a little more traditional in the flavor contributing some characteristic German spiciness. Lots of booze to the aftertaste lends the sweetness sort of an unappealing mouthwash quality.Sums up to a decent representation of the style, made more appealing by a cheap price point (at least in Boston).

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
16oz tallboy thanks to Ed5388. Poured a clear rusty orange with an average long lasting frothy off white head. Aroma was super sweet to start, notes of molasses, caramel, honey, wet raisin and grainy breads. Medium bodied that becomes almost creamy with average to strong carbonation and a slightly dry finish. Flavor of nut shells, dry sugar, corn syrup, molasses. Not bad for how horrible I remember Narragansett from my college days 20 years ago.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Crisp copper and light bronze coloured body with a large, nice, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of cherries, earthy malt, alcohol, light caramel, a hint of cardboard and some stronger metallic and medicinal scents. Medium-bodied; Assertive caramel and earthy malt flavours dominate the taste with some bittering earthy and grassy hops, a hint of bread and some strong metallic and alcohol flavours that finish off quite harshly. Aftertaste is fairly one dimensional with the caramel and malt tying up with the alcohol and bitterness. Overall, a decent beer, but not great for the style, and not great for a sample in general. Neat to try, but not really a keeper or worth trying it again! I sampled this 50 cL can purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 13-July-2013 for US$2.00 sampled at home in Washington on 23-September-2013.

16oz can. Pours a hazy burnt orange color with a nice thick creamy off white head. Aroma of malty sweet caramel, and light citrus notes. Taste of citrus, caramel, grass, light bitterness, and some black pepper spice in the finish.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
16 oz can In my Navy days in RI we consumed much "Gansett". " Loose lips sink ships." This is my first in over 30years. The Bock poured a clear light amber color with a well formed head and 1/2 inch small bubbles. As the head disappeared it laced down the glass. There is some aroma of caramel and biscuits and maybe some spice. The alcohol is perfect with for a Bock. The medium body beer had average carbonation. This is a drinkable beer with food or just to enjoy. No bitterness at the finish.
