Roll out the Barrel: 5.0% Alcohol by Volume and 12 IBUs. A classic American lager and the workhorse of the Gansett stable. Available all year long in bottle, can and on tap! Quality Supreme: We brew our lager with six row malt, seedless hops, corn from Iowa, our lager strain (the same one the brewery has depended on since just after Prohibition), and the purest water from Lakes Ontario and Hemlock. Taste & Enjoy: This beer is brewed just right for drinking—crisp and refreshing. It’s got more flavor than other premium lagers, yet it’s one of the most drinkable beers in the world. Narragansett has the highest rating of all domestic premium lagers on BeerAdvocate.com, and received the bronze medal for American Lagers at the 2008 World Beer Cup The History: The Lager is old reliable. It was the first beer brewed by “The Original Six” back in 1890, the bestselling beer in New England from the 1930s to the 1970s, and the official beer of the Boston Red Sox from 1944-1975.

Contract brewed by High Falls Brewing Co. for since 2007, the production moving to City Brewing in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 2009 and then to the City Brewing plant in Latrobe, PA in 2010. It is anticipated that production may be returned to Rhode Island in the future.

16 ounce can that gas a clambake recipe on the back. Immaculately clear straw-colored brew, and I got a decent if short lived head on it. 12 IBU isn’t much, but it isn’t too sweet. I also detect some late hops, but not many. Better than Bud, for whatever that’s worth.

I had this at Green Dragon Tavern. Pours gold with white head. Taste corn, sweet, light. I thought this was ok. I could drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Transfer from BA review on 8-2-12 - Poured from 16 oz can into a pint glass Appearance – Pours a straw color with a two finger white head. The head fades fast to leave only a moderate amount of lacing. Smell – The aromas are heaviest of corn. Mixed with the corn are lighter aromas of a caramel sweetness as well as a very light bready aroma. Taste – The taste is a blend breadiness and corn up front. These flavors create a body for the beer. As the taste moves on a light caramel and an almost grassy like flavor greets the tongue. These overall sweeten up the taste of the brew and leave a very nice flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is much thicker then would be expected with the carbonation level being on the higher side. Rather nice actually. Overall –For $1.05 for a tall boy this was a fantastic brew. It would be a great session brew so if going for a long steady night it may be a good choice.

Poured from 16 oz can. Pours crystal clear yellow color with white head. Aroma is malt and yeast. Flavor starts with sweet corn and malt followed by crisp yeast. Clean crisp finish. Better than most in the post Prohibition style US lager.

Tasted at Greg’s beer gathering, thanks for sharing. Poured from a tallboy can into a sampler glass. Clear straw-colour with big fluffy white foam. Corn, corn, corn. Rough and unpleasant, but happy to tick Rhode Island.

Tall boy can on the beach. Typical wheat, corn, but perhaps just a bit more of a fruity hint from the yeast. Not bad, better than super macros, still a cheap lager.

Pours clear pale yellow with small white head that leaves quickly. Has pale malt, light corn and a touch of spice - not much there, but okay. It has a light crisp body with normal carbonation for the style. The flavor starts off with the aroma notes, but lots and lots of sweetness. Kinda weird offness to the sweetness.

Pours a typical straw yellow with a white head. Crisp aroma is malty and quite yeasty. Malty flavor has a hint of yeast, nothing special but good for a party or while watching the Red Sox kick ass. Texture has typical fizz and thickness. Nothing special, but still a worthy brew.

Typical old school North American Lager. Smells like...old bar beer -- there’s a surprise. Yellow/gold, big white foamy head. Not bad. Would appeal to the old 1950’s PBR, Carling, etc. drinkers. Suits Capt. Quint in "Jaws".

In a can at the Syb Pig in Boca Raton, FL. Pours a yellowish gold with a thick head. Smells of corn, wheat, maybe some light fruits. The taste is the same without any fruits from the nose. Medium carbonation and light light light body. Finish is corn and biscuit.
