Roll out the Barrel: 5.0% Alcohol by Volume and 12 IBUs. A classic American lager and the workhorse of the Gansett stable. Available all year long in bottle, can and on tap! Quality Supreme: We brew our lager with six row malt, seedless hops, corn from Iowa, our lager strain (the same one the brewery has depended on since just after Prohibition), and the purest water from Lakes Ontario and Hemlock. Taste & Enjoy: This beer is brewed just right for drinking—crisp and refreshing. It’s got more flavor than other premium lagers, yet it’s one of the most drinkable beers in the world. Narragansett has the highest rating of all domestic premium lagers on BeerAdvocate.com, and received the bronze medal for American Lagers at the 2008 World Beer Cup The History: The Lager is old reliable. It was the first beer brewed by “The Original Six” back in 1890, the bestselling beer in New England from the 1930s to the 1970s, and the official beer of the Boston Red Sox from 1944-1975.

Contract brewed by High Falls Brewing Co. for since 2007, the production moving to City Brewing in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 2009 and then to the City Brewing plant in Latrobe, PA in 2010. It is anticipated that production may be returned to Rhode Island in the future.

I feel like I can taste the fresh water in this beer. Crisp and refreshing, a little skunky, bitter, but not too much. Smells like a typical lager. Very middle of the line lager.

Draft. Clear fizzy gold. Sweet malt aroma and taste. Lots of corn. Crisp prickly mouthfeel. Not wonderful.

Tap at The Field, Camridge. Mediocre lager, maybe a bit more punch than others, but the palate is too light and corn-ish for my taste

Can from a BA trade for camping cans. Pours into my mouth a non-descript color as I can’t see it. Aroma is of moldy corn husks. Taste is a corn water sweet, malty and maybe a little too big than I was expecting. Ice cold, not bad. As it warms, not good.

Bottle shared by ?? (Tmoney99 maybe back in late summer 2012). Pours a hazy golden amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet grainy, corn, grass, some light hop character, thin, not much additional character.

Reviewed from notes. Can’t believe I’ve never reviewed this - of all the times when I lived on the East Coast and would pound this on the New England beaches. Well, anyways, ok, here goes. The appearance is a bright yellow close to a golden amber with a thin less than a half fingered soapy head that fell fast. The aroma has a lot of corn and coming through in a super sweetness The taste is lightly sweet through the corn with a thin sweet corn aftertaste and watery finish. The palate is watery and comes across more than sessionable, whoah, yeah this stuff is just super sessionable. Carbonation is fairly subdued as there’s nothing really inadequate on the mouth or tongue. Overall, well, its an American Adjunct Lager, what can one say or do. I say Beach beer/BBQ beer if anything. I’d take this over any wine any day.

Pours with bright clarity , golden amber with a soapy head that fell fast. Nose is corn, grits, corn sweetness and some fresh cut hay. Lightly sweet and no apple on the nose at all. Taste is light, lightly sweet and has a bit of thin apple. Thin malt with a bit of light watery body . Touch of sulfur on the nose at first but that dissipates. Smooth but has a nice bite on the tongue from carbonation. Refreshing with no real hop bitter - maybe a hint of it and some lemon in the dry finish.

Can. Clear pale red color. Not much smell, maybe some hop and grass. Taste is slightly sweet, maybe caramel? Very thin and approachable.
