Roll out the Barrel: 5.0% Alcohol by Volume and 12 IBUs. A classic American lager and the workhorse of the Gansett stable. Available all year long in bottle, can and on tap! Quality Supreme: We brew our lager with six row malt, seedless hops, corn from Iowa, our lager strain (the same one the brewery has depended on since just after Prohibition), and the purest water from Lakes Ontario and Hemlock. Taste & Enjoy: This beer is brewed just right for drinking—crisp and refreshing. It’s got more flavor than other premium lagers, yet it’s one of the most drinkable beers in the world. Narragansett has the highest rating of all domestic premium lagers on BeerAdvocate.com, and received the bronze medal for American Lagers at the 2008 World Beer Cup The History: The Lager is old reliable. It was the first beer brewed by “The Original Six” back in 1890, the bestselling beer in New England from the 1930s to the 1970s, and the official beer of the Boston Red Sox from 1944-1975.

Contract brewed by High Falls Brewing Co. for since 2007, the production moving to City Brewing in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 2009 and then to the City Brewing plant in Latrobe, PA in 2010. It is anticipated that production may be returned to Rhode Island in the future.

Pours a typical straw yellow with a white head. Crisp aroma is malty and quite yeasty. Malty flavor has a hint of yeast, nothing special but good for a party or while watching the Red Sox kick ass. Texture has typical fizz and thickness. Nothing special, but still a worthy brew.

Typical old school North American Lager. Smells like...old bar beer -- there’s a surprise. Yellow/gold, big white foamy head. Not bad. Would appeal to the old 1950’s PBR, Carling, etc. drinkers. Suits Capt. Quint in "Jaws".

In a can at the Syb Pig in Boca Raton, FL. Pours a yellowish gold with a thick head. Smells of corn, wheat, maybe some light fruits. The taste is the same without any fruits from the nose. Medium carbonation and light light light body. Finish is corn and biscuit.

Not much aroma to speak of. Straw like appearance with small amount of head that quickly disappears. Mild taste without much depth or complexity. Overall a decent, no-frills beer with a price that can’t be beat.

Pint on tap. Yep, it’s light lager! Need a rating from Rhode Island? It’s nothing special, drinkable enough, no complaints.

Can. Crystal clear Pale golden with an excellent fluffy white head. Aroma of corn, straw, honey, grain - sweet. Flavor much the same. Light body. Crisp. Not thin or too watery. Very mild bitterness. Some sweetness but not overly. Smooth, pretty easy to put down, but not exactly craving for the next one.. An adequate pale lager.

I feel like I can taste the fresh water in this beer. Crisp and refreshing, a little skunky, bitter, but not too much. Smells like a typical lager. Very middle of the line lager.

Draft. Clear fizzy gold. Sweet malt aroma and taste. Lots of corn. Crisp prickly mouthfeel. Not wonderful.

Tap at The Field, Camridge. Mediocre lager, maybe a bit more punch than others, but the palate is too light and corn-ish for my taste
