COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Roll out the Barrel: 5.0% Alcohol by Volume and 12 IBUs. A classic American lager and the workhorse of the Gansett stable. Available all year long in bottle, can and on tap! Quality Supreme: We brew our lager with six row malt, seedless hops, corn from Iowa, our lager strain (the same one the brewery has depended on since just after Prohibition), and the purest water from Lakes Ontario and Hemlock. Taste & Enjoy: This beer is brewed just right for drinking—crisp and refreshing. It’s got more flavor than other premium lagers, yet it’s one of the most drinkable beers in the world. Narragansett has the highest rating of all domestic premium lagers on BeerAdvocate.com, and received the bronze medal for American Lagers at the 2008 World Beer Cup The History: The Lager is old reliable. It was the first beer brewed by “The Original Six” back in 1890, the bestselling beer in New England from the 1930s to the 1970s, and the official beer of the Boston Red Sox from 1944-1975.

Note:
Contract brewed by High Falls Brewing Co. for since 2007, the production moving to City Brewing in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 2009 and then to the City Brewing plant in Latrobe, PA in 2010. It is anticipated that production may be returned to Rhode Island in the future.

Pours a clear yellow golden color with white head. Cereal grains and some light malts on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes with mostly cereal grains but pretty clean.

Draft at Regina’s Pizzeria, Boston, MA. Straw color, and clear with a small white head. Not much aroma - maybe some corn and light malt. Taste is lager-like, but also is a bit strange: maybe some ginger or cream soda? Weird.

Aroma: dusty grainy malts, generic typical to N.American to macro micro pale lagers and cream ales nose.
Look: pored with nice golden bottom, medium white top that left sparse lace on glass.
Palate: medium bodied, thinner walls. Average plus carbonation. Shorter finish.
TasteL frontal golden malts, clean but lacking a bit of depth. Mid accented with sweet corn. Plain ending.

This is water. It doesn’t have a bad taste, or a bad aroma. It just doesn’t have any taste or aroma. It pours very bright yellow with lots of carbonation. No aroma, no flavor.

$1.35 Pint can from Wine Warehouse. Pours clear golden with a large off-white head. Slightly sweet aroma, possibly grassy, but not discernible. Taste is actually not too bad for a lager. Plain, sure, but does not taste like some of its cheap counterparts. A bit thin in the mouth.

Can 16 fl.oz. Poured into a lager glass. Clear medium golden, small frothy white head, mostly diminishing, light lacing; aroma sweet malts, sweet corn, muscat grapes, grass; light taste, medium sweet and slightly bitter, malty, light fruity; mild sweetbitter finish with light spicy notes; medium body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation; pleasant smooth lager, quite nice (for an American lager).

Pours a nice light golden yellow. Aromas of hops, grass, and maybe corn. Taste is crisp with a nice mellow hop flavor. Still better than Bud/Coors/Miller light products.

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a vibrant golden color with a large creamy yellow-white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was tangy with perfume and artificial grape. The flavor was tangy and sweet with artificial grape and perfume. Medium length finish. Medium body. Not good but better than I expected.
