fbennett (293), Lowell, Massachusetts, USA Jun 22, 2006 Poured a golden blonde that is clear and inviting. It leaves a thick off white lace that is bubbly. The aroma is typical Belgian ale, musty, fruity esters, and finishes like pale wheat in the nose. The taste is smooth, starts dry and tart on the palate, it then moves to a balance of sweetness dominated by honey and cloves and then finishes bitter but balanced with that honey sweetness. This is another great style from a underrated brewery in Nashoba, keep up the great work!
hophead75 (1702), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Mar 9, 2007 12 oz bottle from the brewery. Lightly hazy golden in color. Medium off white head. Yeast, spices, and light notes of malt in the nose. Taste is light yeast and dough, spices, lemon rind, sweet malts, with a dry and lightly spicy finish. notalush (2079), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Mar 6, 2007 12 ouncer from Julios - slightly cloudy golden, with minimal head - light yeasty aroma, with notes of candi sugar and mild spices - fairly light in flavor, but not what I would call bland - a dash of hops and a light peppery quality float atop a mild, grainy malt base - notes of flowers and honey - finishes with light hops and citrus - this would be great on a hot summer day. CaptainCougar (4665), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 9, 2006 Bottle courtesy of Old Growth: Pours a slightly hazy bright golden with a thin-lacing white ring of head. Aroma of lightly sweet biscuity Belgian malt with some peppery coriander, light citrus and honey. Body starts with a nice light Belgian malty sweetness, turning more dry, revealing some spice and citric tartness. Nicely balanced and quite drinkable. ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Mar 5, 2006 Bottle from Octboer 2005 consumed on 3/2/2006 Immediately diminishing white head, leaving a small ring on the edges. Clear, pale-bronze, with even lighter maize tints. Small bubbles rise infrequently, no lacing, though a light film left behind. Plenty of sediment on bottom. Lightly tart nose, some sweaty, grainy malts collide with hops that are lightly spicy. Just a hint of muted brett. Very faint, with notes of cidery/sour vinegar-like suggestions and maybe some corn?? Fortunately, the flavor seems nothing like the nose. All pils malt honey sweetness with mild brett. Mild, but distinct and tart on the end. Green, spicy, near lilacy hops on end, almost certainly Styrian Goldings, or something very similar. Very bretty upon warming, with light melon notes. Light carbonation, lightly loose texture that is barely held together by the delicate pils malt sweetness. No alcohol apparency in aroma or flavor.
