COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our fall festival beer is a traditional German Marzen style lager. We blend 4 different malts to provide a full-bodied flavor. We age this beer on light toast American oak to lend subtle flavors of vanilla and wood, perfectly complimenting a caramel maltiness.

Bottle, from Colonial Spirits in Acton, MA. Something about this beer turned me off. It was very malty and sweet, kind of flat. Poured pale amber with no head. This was a hard beer to like.

12oz shared by a kind soul at the Tampa Weekly Tasting- jcwatts?. Pours a hazy gold with an off-white head. Nose is maple, slight smoke, and sweet malt. Flavor is similar to the nose with sweet bread, sweet malt, some maple, and a slight hint of smoke. Interesting beer. Medium in body and lingering sweetness into the finish.

12 oz bottle sampled at the Brewery/Winery & a 12 oz bottle brought home. Pours a slightly hazy red/orange color with a minimal off white head. Nice, rich malty aroma with hints of maple and oak. Loads of caramel malt in the flavor. A little bit of a hop presence. The same hint of maple and oak as in the aroma. Moderate in body, but could use more carbonation.

A copper body with barley any head. Aroma was of caramel malts and some fruits. Flavor was mostly sweet, cloying but still sweet. Finish was smooth. Carbonation was decent.

Bottle via trade. Beer from a winery? Definitely lowers my expectations. Pours clear reddish-amber with a pretty well-formed off-white head and decent lacing. The aroma is cellophane, oak chips, butter, and asphalt. Some slight malt notes as well. The flavor is somewhat malty and oaky. Plasticky as well. Not much to it, and not good. Decent palate, a little watery with medium-light body and average carbonation. Not good. Had trouble finishing a few ounces of this stuff.

Kinda a weird marzen. I initially thought the gnarly buttered popcorn aroma and flavor was diacetyl from the brewing process, but it looks like it might be from the oak. It’s still pretty bad.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with ppoitras (thanks!). Poured a deep golden color with large sized white head. Aromas of light oak, bready, caramel, and citrus. Tastes of caramel, bread, citrus, and light wood. The woodiness was barely detectable and I didn’t get any maple syrup. Had a light sour finish that I kinda liked.

This offering from Nashoba pours a dark gold cloudy with yeast throughout leaving a thick tan head. The aroma is caramel, sour grapes, tart citrus fruit pwder, with a yeasty essence. The taste is tart upfront very lactic. The maltiness is nice caramel, brown sugar, followed by a brisk tart candy feel that moves to a under ripened fruit tartness. The finish is oaky but rough, overall not what I expected in this Oktoberfest overly tart but decent.
