COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly a winter seasonal known as Winter IPA.
Palisade hops were added throughout the boil and dry hop schedule, along with high alpha American hops for bittering, Noble hops for aroma and a few other varieties in-between to balance the heavy malt profile. Rum soaked Oregon oak spires added during the final stages of fermentation bring flavor notes of caramel and vanilla to complement the bitterness.

16oz can picked up at the Portland Airport
Gusher, pours hazy dark amber with a huge off-white head and lots of lacing. Aroma is malty, stale hops and caramel. Flavor is caramel, bitter hops, metallic and medicinal burn in the finish
OK, but I wouldn’t rush out to buy another.

Pint can. This one poured all head. Stale hops, grass, earthy, and toasted caramel. Over carbonated and all over the place.

On the train from Hereford to Inverness, can liberated from OR thanks to Wingman Willis, 18/10/13. Hazed orange amber with good sized off white headage. Nose is toasty malts, citrus fruit, bitter orange, grass, earthy hops. Taste comprises orange sherbet, earthy hops, orange pith, caramel malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi aggressive hop bitterness in the finish. Drinkable but pretty low end for the style.

16 oz can from New Seasons - Pours a hazy brown with a white head. Not much hops aroma at all for an imperial IPA. More of a bready malt aroma with a hint of vanilla. Tastes move like a high alcohol amber than an imperial IPA to me. OK beer. Not my favorite, but I’ll certainly finish this one.

Can from Blue Dog Lansdale. Pours turbid dark straw with 2-finger off-white head. Nose is piney resiny hops, pale malt. Tastes earthy pale malty, hopcitric, with finishing mild yeasty funk notes.

A kind of terrible IPA, tasted metallic, with a simple hop profile that got lost.

Bottle shared by Dogbrick on Memorial Day. Pours clear amber in color with a medium tan head. Nose of grainy malt and old hops. Malty flavor with notes of tropical fruit and caramel before a bitter grassy finish.

Hazy, deep dark brown and ruby-tinted body with a bronze glow and a thin, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of strong alcohol, pine, hops, caramel, grass and resin - pungent and very strong for sure. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep caramelised sugar flavour with a lot of earthy and pungent malt and metallic notes with a big bite at the end and a lot of deep flavours to roam through. Aftertaste shows a lot of earthy malt, yeast, metal, oak, herbs and resinous hop flavours - strong, but not all in a good way. Overall, a rather deep and strong beer without a good sense of style nor complexity. Nice to try, but I wouldn’t get this again even if I could find it regularly. I sampled this 50 cL can purchased from Whole Foods in Portland (Pearl), Oregon on 11-April-2013 for US$3.49 sampled at home in Washington on 03-June-2013.

Sample at the Memorial Day Deck Beers tasting on 05/27/2013: Pours a hazy dark amber color with a thick and fluffy white head that dissipates slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, pine and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of resiny hops, malt and a bit of citrus. The finish is moderately bitter with a hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

Hazy red orange color with white lacing. Caramel, cereal, ginger, and pine on the nose. Big palate yet balanced. Bitter throughout with a lingering pine and resin aspects.
