3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Quack-Duck (5921) - Down South, - JUN 29, 2009
bottle, bought in Giengen. Although the black ox is called Schwarzbier it neither looks like a Schwarzbier nor tastes like it. Deep amber-brown colour with a small off-white head. Malty nose with a touch of fruit. Medium-bodied, nice malty base with flavours of chestnut honey and strawberries. Sharp and aromatic hop profile as a contrast to the fruity maltyness - a very nice combination. I would say this is a Vienna, and what a good one!

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 MoritzF (7402) - Bochum, GERMANY - MAY 17, 2010
(bottle, 33cl) Slightly hazy, not very dark for a Schwarzbier but chestnut-brown-coloured with a big and slightly tanned foamy head. Sweet and slightly toasty malty nose with notes of caramel and a tinge of vegetables and metallic hops. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Toasty malt-character with caramel/toffee and shy herbal accents; Slightly toasty and slim but sweetish malty finish with little to none hops character. This is neither a Schwarzbier nor a decent but a pretty lame Dunkel. 09.V.10
