19641948 (492), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Mar 2, 2008 Pours a clear light auburn with a scant head of light tan (subsequent pints offered a bit more of a head, so there was some retention occuring). Aromas of doughy malt and just a smidge of sweetness. Flavors give the palate a touch of honeyed sweetness, nothing more. Maltiness as a "red Irish beer" is frankly lacking. Earthy hop notes are quiet. Aftertaste of almost that "homebrew taste" some people detect and detest. An odd brew for me, and an odder moniker. Meh. 00cobraR (935), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Mar 2, 2008 Pours out a reddish color with a small head. aroma was rather sweet and bready. The flavor was nice at first. The honey added a nice touch. The finish killed it for me. It just didnt appeal to me at all. I found it difficult to finish this brew. NachlamSie (1320), Tennessee, USA Feb 18, 2008 Draught. Pours light red with a small white head. The aroma sports a hefty dose of biscuits in a musty basement. This is very, very smooth and easy to drink like many others in the style. This is not overly sweet, but rather bready with a pleasing light honey presence and an assertive level of European hop flavor in the finish. Nicely balanced and pretty decent, but certainly no more than a good session brew.
