3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 illinismitty (2270) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - APR 24, 2009
Bottle from Ross, and he forgot to tell me what to rate this since he expects all NC beers to get good ratings regardless of their quality. Pours a deep coffee brown with a one finger brown head. Aroma of chocolate and plums. Medium bodied with a slight creamy texture. Flavor of cocoa, bitter coffee, and dark roasted malts. Mid palate it pick up nuts and dark fruits. Finish is smooth like a Baltic Porter, but has a medicinal alcohol bite as it gets near room temp. Not bad, but not an aggressive Imperial stout. This is more like an imperial porter, but we don’t have the sub classification here- which is stupid
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Barrios (1241) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - APR 5, 2009
Pours a tan head with a dark brown body. Smells of roast, hint of smoke, very little chocolate and coffee, but there is some. Taste is the same but everything is slightly pronounced. Little thin with regard to the body. Wish it were a little bigger.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Butters (3356) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - APR 5, 2009
Sampled at the Impromptu Butter’s 6th cellar clearance. Very dark brown pour with wispy brown head. Nutty roasty aroma. Smooth and roasty chocolate. Some alcohol warming as I swallow. Fair Imperial stout, and much better than many a brew.

Thanks for the trade Ross. Pours a rich brown color with thin bubbly head. Aroma is of mild coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. Taste is of mild sweet malt, light chocolate and light coffee. Finishes extremly smooth and creamy. this beer doesn’t pack a punch, and it’s not very complex, but it’s very easy drinking.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Winston-Salem. Pours a ruby tinted brown color with a thin head. Poor head retention and weak lacing. 3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ross (1977) - weddington, North Carolina, USA - MAR 13, 2009
Bottle. Pours out a dark black color with a tan head on it. Typical look of an imperial stout. Smell is roasted, with some chocolate and coffee, tiny bit of alcohol. Taste is somewhat thin, but because of this it makes it a bit easier to drink. Full chocolate and roasted malt kick to it too. Interesting beer, perhaps not the best, but at least it will make you piss.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 00cobraR (1103) - Greensboro, North Carolina, USA - MAR 3, 2009
A solid impy. Pours out a black color with a smaller tan head. aroma is big on coffee, roasted malt, choco, with a touch of sweetness. Flavor was very much the same as it seems most impys are, but there was a bit of bitterness in the finish. A very nice brew.
