Per the chalkboard, a light amber beer with a mild nutty and toasted aroma, with a hint of roasted malts. Finished with noble German hops. Pours a burnt orange color with a creamy light tan head. The creaminess plops away in chunks leaving a cratered head. Lacing in thin wispy sheets clings to the glass. Aromas are most assuredly nutty. More nut present than toastiness or the style’s subtle fruitiness. A very full scent. Flavors wash the tongue in nut and bread. Toasted notes are more common in the flavor. Mild fruitiness from the yeast occurs. A slight kick on the sides of the tongue that seems prickly, assumingly from the German hops. Malt-driven beer. Firm mouthfeel, not thin nor watery in any way. Emminently drinkable on a hot hot hot summer’s day. A fantastic accompaniment to dinner capping off a day of working in the yard.
novedyarg (56), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jun 16, 2005 A seasonal ale, this time around it was called the "Carolina Steamer". Brewed in the style of Anchor Head Steamer. A deep redish golden body with a medium head. Sweet and spicey aroma. Starts out with a sweet caramely malt taste and ends in a bitter hoppy afterflavor that’s not too overwhelming. TheBeerOrg (1371), Kentucky, USA Jun 11, 2005 Updated: Aug 21, 2005Steam beer seasonal. I initally thought it was an IPA. Bronze with thin white head. Spicy hop aroma. Caramel malty start ends with citrus hops. Oily hop resins with a hint of grains for the finish.
