Sampled on tap at Natty Greene’s in Raleigh. Pours a black color with off white head. Burnt, roasty, malty aromas. Burnt, malty flavors. Pretty watery stout, lighter bodied, doesn’t really work.

Not a good beer. Worst we have had at the brewery. Looks like a watered down soda. Not much smell. Tastes like it's watered down, with some vinegar, and a weird tangy aftertaste. Had on tap at the brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught. Pours a near black color with a moderate light tan head on it. This was served on nitro. Nose was pretty roasty, but fairly light. Taste was also pretty roasty and smooth, with some great creaminess to it. I quite enjoyed this one.

From tap at brewery. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma was chocolate and roasted notes. Taste follows but adds toffee and roasted nuts. Not too heavy.

Draft at the source. Hazy brown color, scant white head. Aroma of dusty dirt. Taste is similar. Very earthy.

Tap at Natty Greene’s. Pours black with a nice brown head leaving small lacing. Aroma is acidy, roasted malty, nutty, a bit sweet, chocolate and bready. Flavor much lke the aroma, nice bitterness and very drinkable. Finishes bitter roasted and with some sweet coffee notes.

Originally reviewed: 6/8/10. Had this on tap at the brewpub on 6/5/10. Came out a very dark black, with just wisps of ruby on the lower edges. Thick tan head. Great sticky lace. Scents of toasted malts, light coffee, dry husk. The mouth was creamy and smooth. Subtle carbonation noted. Dark chocolate abounds in this beer. Bitter black coffee dries the finish a bit. Slightly tart in spots. Really good beer. I could have a pint of this anytime. Recommend.

Draught @ Raleigh brewpub. I don’t really like this style and I enjoyed this one more than most! Clean copper brown/black pour with ruby highlights. Diacetyl and roast, coffee and dark grain. Some burnt toast. Nice prominent and clean roast in the flavor, medium body with a good dark grain presence.

Draft. Black coloured beer with an average brown head and some fine carbonation. Buttery light malty and short roasted hinted aroma. Medium to light creamy palate. Finish is light buttery bitter and toffee hinted with a longer coffee/toffee sweet roasted hint.

Served on draft at the brewpub, 4/6/11. Pours a clear dark ruby color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet caramel, chocolate and milky notes. The taste is dry roasted malts, minty hops, tobacco and some toasted notes. Medium bodied. Nice.
