COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Medium-bodied, unfiltered wheat beer with a clove & banana aroma and a refreshing, tart finish. We dubbed this German-styled wheat beer Hessian as this was the name of German volunteer soldiers in the Revolutionary War. The period flags are of the Hessian towns where the soldiers originated.

Sampled on tap at Natty Greene’s in Raleigh. Pours a hazy yellow color with white head. Served with a lemon - big party foul for a hefeweizen! Yeast, wheat, lemon, corn husk aromas. Yeast, wheat, light bubblegum flavors. Light bodied. Kinda tangy. Just not a very good hefeweizen.

Poured as a 4 oz taster at the Greensboro pub. Comes served with a slice of lemon, even on a taster. I know that in Germany it’s common to squeeze a fruit juice in hefeweizen, but it probably isn’t needed here. Correct to style - obvious banana and clove notes on the nose and the palate. Finishes clean. One of the better American hefeweizens I’ve had.

Tap at Natty Greene’s downtown - pours cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma is the typical banana and clove. Good example of the style, though I wish they wouldn’t put the stupid orange wedge on the glass.

Draft at brewpub. Pours cloudy yellow with a thin white head. For some reason at the brewpub they stick an orange slice on the glass. Nice estery notes on the nose. Has a nice banana and clove thing on the tongue. Finishes clean. perfect for the summer. I wish everything they did was this nice.

Served on draft at the Raleigh location. Pours a hazy yellow with a large frothy white head. Decent head retention. Strong wheat in the aroma with some faint citrus notes. Kinda bland. The taste is citrus, wheat, yeast and a spicy finish. Average carbonation and thin bodied.

A hazed amber hefeweizen wit a thin white head, served with an orange wedge. In aroma, sweet banan, cloves, with light sulfury notes. In mouth, a lightly oily sweet banan malt with nice cloven notes, nice and restrained, refreshing. On tap at Greensboro location, August 14 2011.

not a good hefe impression, but a nice american hefe. A bit watery and lacking in palate.
