MaltOMeal (221), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Jun 1, 2008 12oz bottle thanks to jrob_21. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head which dissipated quickly. Smell is of malt and roastiness. Taste was of malt and vinegar. A bit cola-like. Mouthfeel was medium-to-thin with a bit of dryness. wilkie (1028), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA May 11, 2008 Draught, from a CASK at the WBF in Raleigh. Pours dark brown, with tan head. Aroma is malty, sweet, roasty. Flavor is similar, nice beer, but nothing extraordinary about it. A little thin in flavor, but otherwise, okay. masedawg (149), Statesville, North Carolina, USA May 4, 2008 Dark brown with an amber hue. Some chocolate and roast aroma, but nothing overwhelming. Good bittering hops, although I wouldn’t mind seeing more aroma hops used. Naka (362), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 28, 2008 On tap at Sportstime in W-S. Pours a dark brownish red color with a small light tan head leaving some lacing. Aroma is a dark brown sugar malty nose. It has a little bitterness, but the flavor brings a strong metallic flavor at the beginning. Once you get past that, there is some roasted coffee malt flavor with a touch of nuttiness. Very watery. Not terrible, but probably won’t search this out again. mhelgason (400), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Mar 10, 2008 Tap at Natty Greenes Pub. Small tan fizzy head into dark brown body. strong brown sugar in the aroma as well as light hops and some light spices. good brown ale.
