3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Bruisin ales. Pours very, very dark brown with an inch of khaki head. Just a gorgeous looking beer. A hint of malt on the nose. I get some nuttiness with a hint of chocolate. Finishes clean. It’s a nicely balanced quaffable example of the style.

On tap at The Liberty in Charlotte. Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma is of toasted, nutty malt, prunes and plums. Light, smooth, quite thin body. Taste is of some toasted malt and some dark fruit. I’m not impressed with this brew.

Dark brown to black coloured beer with a small off white head and some little carbonation. Slightly roasted malty to almost chocolaty aroma. Medium to full palate. Finish is malty, chocolat roasted with a light creamy ending. Nice taste but misses some character.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Reviewed from notes. On tap at the brewpub.
Pours a chestnut color with a light tan head and a small amount of lacing. The nose brings some light toasted malt, caramel, and a bit of a nutty characteristic. The taste is pretty tame, with some bread, caramel, toffee, and nuts. Feel is good with adequate carbonation. Nice and smooth. Drinks well enough, but nothing special. Fairly sessionable.
