Pours brown with a thin tan had. Aroma is coffee, bitter sweet chocolate and toasty. Taste is sweet with a twinge of tartness on the finish. Smooth and almost creamy mouth feel. Enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours very dark with minimal head. There are some hints of nuttiness to it, which was a little surprising. Good level of roasting in the nose on this beer. An interesting find...

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from sampler. A rich brown that has some porter like qualities with the chocolate and a little heavier body (which I like). Surprised by how low the alcohol content is for such a flavorful beer. Very good.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Natty Greene’s. Pours brown mahogany with a nice creamylight tanned head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, coffee, nutty and some chocolate. Flavor is similar to the aroma, too sweet for me though, lots of coffee and chocolate. Some vanilla as well. Finishes sweet malty and bitter.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
This was the third beer tasted. The DIPA is not listed yet. The color was a dark brown with lacing. The ale did not have much taste (possible potatoes) and was watery and thin. The finish was smooth but a disappointing beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Originally reviewed: 8/11/09. Had this on tap at the First Street Draught House in town. I’ve had this in bottle form, but this is a first on tap. Came out a dark brown with ruby edges and a good 1-inch tan head on top. Retention was fair, but there was tons of sticky lacing on the glass edge. Smells like molasses, brown sugar, toasted bread, and roasted nuts.
The mouth was creamy and smooth with a touch of carbonation on the tongue. The brown sugar that I found in the scent is also in the flavor. This is a pleasantly sweet, roasty Brown Ale. Bitterness is low. Plenty of malty goodness in this beer. I much preferred this beer on tap. Recommend.

A pleasing aroma with a nice flavor. Hoppy over tones. A real nice social drink that is not to high in abv.

Bottle. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Nose is nutty, bitter chocolate, metal. Flavor is more creamy, more nuts, cocoa. Lightly bitter, metallic malty finish. Okay.

Bottle at a family Christmas gathering - Merry Tickmas! (Thanks, Retta and Steve!) Nice garnet pour with a brisk but not obtrusive carbonation. Soft chocolate malts in the nose with some dry hops and sweet candy. Body is medium, certainly not quite as robust as desirable. Flavors are fairly enjoyable, a well realized brown for such a low ABV.
