Tap at Natty Greene’s. Pours brown mahogany with a nice creamylight tanned head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, coffee, nutty and some chocolate. Flavor is similar to the aroma, too sweet for me though, lots of coffee and chocolate. Some vanilla as well. Finishes sweet malty and bitter.

This was the third beer tasted. The DIPA is not listed yet. The color was a dark brown with lacing. The ale did not have much taste (possible potatoes) and was watery and thin. The finish was smooth but a disappointing beer.

Originally reviewed: 8/11/09. Had this on tap at the First Street Draught House in town. I’ve had this in bottle form, but this is a first on tap. Came out a dark brown with ruby edges and a good 1-inch tan head on top. Retention was fair, but there was tons of sticky lacing on the glass edge. Smells like molasses, brown sugar, toasted bread, and roasted nuts. The mouth was creamy and smooth with a touch of carbonation on the tongue. The brown sugar that I found in the scent is also in the flavor. This is a pleasantly sweet, roasty Brown Ale. Bitterness is low. Plenty of malty goodness in this beer. I much preferred this beer on tap. Recommend.

A pleasing aroma with a nice flavor. Hoppy over tones. A real nice social drink that is not to high in abv.

From Draft at the arena. Nice Smell, nice brown color. I enjoyed it and wont hesitate to try again.

Bottle. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Nose is nutty, bitter chocolate, metal. Flavor is more creamy, more nuts, cocoa. Lightly bitter, metallic malty finish. Okay.

Bottle at a family Christmas gathering - Merry Tickmas! (Thanks, Retta and Steve!) Nice garnet pour with a brisk but not obtrusive carbonation. Soft chocolate malts in the nose with some dry hops and sweet candy. Body is medium, certainly not quite as robust as desirable. Flavors are fairly enjoyable, a well realized brown for such a low ABV.

Tap at a Carolina Hurricanes game. A nice bodied brown. Tasted much better after it sat and warmed up a bit.

Pours a barely translucent warm chocolaty brown with a fairly thick and rather persistend light tan head. Malty aroma has an overtone of molasses and hints of miso and caramel. Satisfying malty flavor has caramel and molasses notes and a woody hop undertone with just a bit of bitterness. Texture has average fizziness and average body. Though nothing special, it still merits at least a try.

Pour out of bottle is dark brownish almost black with some red slightly off white/tan head. Aroma brings notes of caramel, nuts, biscuit and toast, hints of earth and slight grass as well. Taste is a bit watery, but notes of caramel, some slight hints of biscuit, touch of vanilla and some slight dark fruit, finishing fairly sweet, but slightly dry in there. Some carb pushes it through the palate fairly well, a bit thin. Tasty for 4.3% for sure.
