Bottle thanks to badnloose. Pours a medium brown color with a small dissipating head. Aroma is that of a typical brown ale with a small note of dark chocolate. Flavor is about the same, creamy, with coffee and bitter chocolate.

tap @ Natty Greenes: Poured a clear brown color with a creamy beige head. Light roasted malt makes up the aroma. Some notes of fruit and hints of coffee. The flavor had a decent roast to it with fruitiness and hints of coffee.

Pours a translucent brown color with a small khaki head.Aromas of chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel was creamy with hints of coffee.Finish was a typical bitter coffee end.

Tap. Incredibly dark brown, tettering towards black in the right light. Tan head slow to dissipate. Full aroma of chocolate and nutmeg, creamy and strong taste. Flowed so well I didn’t want to stop drinking. Great with a meal.

Pours mahogany brown with beige head. The aroma is slightly spicy with some raisin and charred toast. The flavor is caramel and bitter chocolate with a dose of burnt toast. Raisin and wood come in the middle, then a toasty and slightly nutty finish. Not bad.

on tap-pours a disappearing tan head and brown color with red tint. Aroma is dark malt-nutty/roasty/faint caramel. Taste is dark malt-nutty/roasty/caramel/chocolate. Hint of hops waived over brew kettle. Smooth. Mild carbonation.

SIlver medalist at the GABF.... (one of the brown divisions). Pours dark, an almost black mahogany with tan webbing. The nose is excellent, of caramelized honey-roasted nuts. This well integrates caramel, espresso, semi-sweet chocolate, roasted grains, almonds and walnuts. After all of this complexity, the finish resides somewhere in the semi-sweet chocolate and almond realm. The mouthfeel is round and comforting. A nicely put together brown ale.

Draught at Piedmont Ale House in Burlington. Clear dark brown with a medium light tan head. Aroma of burnt caramel and a definite but distant chocolate note - interesting and inviting. My first thought on this was, "Chocolate? I’ve never noticed this in a brown ale before, am I imagining it?" I hadn’t read the commercial descriptio, either. Body is medium with a soft mouthfeel, and jsut the slightest stickiness. Rich caramel sweetness, and some nice balance provided by gentle use of some spicy hops. Teh finish, although a tad sweet, is not overly so, and the result is a very refreshing, nicley brewed effort. Glad I had this, I would have it again. Good accompaniment for the typical pub fare.
