Let’s face it, a grass cutting beer. If you looking for a really cheap beer, its one of the best ones. It’s comparable to your typical miller lite, bud light, etc.....this beer is bought for quantity definitely not quality. Extremely light body, doesn’t fill you up, not much flavor, but remember why you are drinking this beer.

A popular beer when I was in college, although solely because it was cheap.

Love me my Natty Treasures. One of the favorites among my friends so it has quickly become our go-to cheap beer. Unfortunately I do not pour this beer into a glass to find out its actual color and head qualities but who does. This is a cheap light beer that does its job and thats it. I call these the water beers that are simply the bare necessities that would qualify any liquid as a beer. If I had enough money to shotgun Dale’s whenever I felt like it I would, but until then, Natty Treasures and PBRs are my pawns in the game of beer.

A clear, pale yellow pour with a white head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is moslty just light grains. The thin body has a clean taste with just the slightest hint of bitterness on the tongue.

Natural Light has a very thick, white head and a clear, pale straw appearance, with lots of carbonation and some lacing left behind. The aroma is sweet, grainy, and eggy (which dissipates along with the head). Taste is likewise sweet and grainy, and there is an oh-so-mild hop bite at the end of the sip. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Natural Light finishes crisp, refreshing and easy drinking. Overall, for a light beer, this one is okay.

Apparently the drink of choice at college parties in Northwestern Ohio. I’ve had the displeasure of partaking.
Pours the lightest of straw colors with absolutely no head. Smells of straight grain husk. Tastes not much better, as it adds in a bit of cardboard. Feel is way, way too carbonated, although it does the service of carrying away many of the flavors. Drinks quickly, only because I want it out of my mouth.

Few people remember that Anheuser-Busch originally marketed Natural Light as a competitor to Miller Lite, back in the late 70’s. It was actually premium priced, not the cheap beer it is now. After failing to make inroads against Miller Lite, A-B pulled out the big guns and introduced Bud Light (they were at first hesitant to put the Budweiser name on a light beer). Now, "Natty Light" is associated with college kids and anyone who wants a cheap buzz. I’m not sure if the recipe was changed, but the brewery does minimal advertising for the brand, so that obviously holds down costs.
Now that the history lesson is done, on to the tasting! Not that bad, actually. A bit citrusy and fruity, in a watered-down sense. Not much in the way of body, or hop character. And why is it that light beers pump up the carbonation to compensate? There’s a lot of fizz going on here. Maybe it’s to help wean the college kids off soda. On the plus side, you can’t beat the price, and it’s not that much different in taste from Bud Light. This beer gets a lot of scorn, but has actually scored well in international competitions and other blind taste tests. Even though most people (especially the beer snobs), won’t admit it, you can’t really say it has a bad taste. It is inoffensive, and that, I think, is the goal.
