Cask, Swan & Rushes, Leicester. Pale gold with a bubbly white foam. Aromas are biscuit, caramel and hay with clean peppery hops. Grapefruit with floral notes and some damp notes. Melon with lager malts and pepper. Flavours are light malts with lemon and bittersweet grapefruit. Dry and spicy on the palate. Decent.

Cask-conditioned at the brewery tap, the Trent Navigation, Nottingham 16/2/2014. Deep gold with a tight, off-white head. Stone fruits, leafy hops, some tangerines, solid, almost spicy malts and a lingering bitter finish. Very good.

Light in colour with a distinctive, astringent taste-no discernible nose and an unpleasant slightly medicinal aftertaste.

Hand pulled at the Crosse Keys, Notts. some biscuit, some dishcloth. A little tang from the musty, earthy hop. Not bad, but dont get value from the abv.

Cask gravity, Nottingham BF 2012, 12/10/12. On the Castle steps waiting for the in-laws. Headless orange. Orange and aniseed aroma; boiled orange barley sweet, biscuit and aniseed taste. Cashew linger. Medium bitterness, no fresh hop. No IPA but decent enough.

Cask conditioned at Oxford Beer Fest 12. Gold with almost fizzy white head. Lovely condition to this one, big fruity aroma leading to a dryish, hop lead beer, good deep citrus notes with a grapefruit edge, succulent and full. The body is crisp enough as a carrier, bready too. Very nice indeed.

On tap at The Cross Keys, Nottingham. Typical IPA appearance with a small, creamy, lacing giving head. Very smooth mouthfeel. Bitter grapefruit with a long finish that builds impressively and manages to be dry yet easily quaffable. Very well balanced with some malt. Deceptively light given the ABV. Perhaps lacking some depth of flavour but still good stuff.

Pint at the Boathouse Wylam. Clear gold with a dense enduring white head, classic citrussy grapefruit aroma and flavour. Excellent balance between the fruity flavour, and bitter finish. Refreshing and moreish. So we had another. Minor quibble about the relatively low ABV for an IPA, but I stress its minor. Delicious and recommended
