Bottle. Nose is brown sugar and toffee, hint of lactose. Taste is burnt toast, malt, slight coffee, slight liquorice. Smokey finish. Palate, is perhaps a touch thin. A reasonable stout masquerading as a porter.

rauchbier (3394) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - MAR 21, 2013
Bottle, from Rhythm & Booze, Barton upon Humber. Deep red brown, thin shortlived off white head and low condition. Gentle fruity berries and a delicate chocolate sweetness in the nose, quite a pronounced but restrained tingle of bitterness in the mouth with an earthiness and low chocolate balaced by more fruitiness. Finish has a lingering bitter note tinged with chocolate.

Pint at the Hope Tap in Reading. Dark red/brown with a short lived creamy head. Light roast aroma. Pleasant light porter, smooth but a little lacking in body. Has a hint of chocolate.

Leighton (6956) - London, ENGLAND - OCT 28, 2012
Cask at The Crosse, Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear, dark ruby with a tight, off-white head. Dark toast in the aroma with some nuts. Light sweet flavor with very mellow roast character but sturdy ash notes, some faint burnt cocoa, very mild earthy bitterness. Light bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Moderately dry and roasty to finish, lightly sweet with burnt toast, burnt leaves, light earth, chalk. It’s an overall decent porter.

Pint at ’spoons Gateshead. Dark ruby with a beige head, chocolatey aroma, nice bitter licquorice, coffee and soy flavour. Porter that veers into stout territory.

AleTsar (1331) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 19, 2012
Cask @ JDW Elgin 181012
Dark ruby brown, clear, thin white head, some lacing
Light aroma of roasted malts, soft coffee, hint of chocolate - very light for a porter
Taste was a disappointment - soft roast, odd yeast, some vegetables, thin caramel, hint of rubber...something’s gone skew-whiff here....
Palate - thin mouthfeel...Finish very dry
Overall - Well this was not great...odd odd flavours

Fine roasted flavours make this fairly tasty despite it having little aroma.

Black with a brown tint and a creamy lasting tan head. Smell of light roast, sweet malt and berry. Medium thin flat body. Sweet chocolate start with a bitter smokey finish. Elements of berry, and coffee. Very nice and smooth.
