A boozy aroma followed by a very bitter taste. Full bodied. Smoky and ashy. On the sweet side. Interesting but not ultimately satisfying.

[Cask at the Three Guineas, Reading] Deep ruby-brown with a moderate cream head and a slight tingle if fizz in the mouth - excellent condition although served too cold. Heavily roasted (verging on burnt) malt dominates from the off. This is gradually mellowed by stewed fruit that has more than a hint of cough medicine about it. A decent enough stout, but not especially one I’d return to.

Cask at The Market Porter.
Almost black in colour. Butterscotch dominates the aroma. Light, only light dark-ish flavours are noted alongside a pretty clear butterscotch tone. There is a grainy feel to the malt feel, but the toast grains are just not there. The texture of the beer is good, and it is still drinkable. Still, low flavour profile on this beer, with light body and low bitterness. Style-wise, it’s just not a Stout. I believe the diacetyl took over most here.

tap at the bow bar ... dark dark red black... but not bloody black ... soft sweet chocolate roast nose ... good chocoalte roast ... dark malt ... good body ... well tasty...
