"A Saison (Say-Sahn) is a Belgian Farmhouse Summer Beer. Farmhouse referring to the simple fact that very small "farmhouse" breweries typically made these beers. Lighter in alcohol, ours is 6.5% (not exactly light but thatís just us!) and golden to orange in color. Unfiltered. Ours is spiced with both Apricot puree and Black Pepper. The taste is light, refreshing and nicely fruited to start. Medium mouthfeel. After taking a drink, the black pepper dries the palate and creates a nice tingling sensation on the tongue." Non-Barrel Aged, Draft Only version.

750ml bottle pours out a hazy apricot topped with a small white head. Nose is light stone fruit banana spice barrel notes and some tartness funk. Taste is more of the light apricot yeast wood and light tartness.

750ml bottle. The beer is a light gold. Liquid is moderately hazy. Fairly large white head. Puffs up nicely with fine bubbles. Some lacing, good retention. The aroma is quite nice. Sweet apricots on top of muted peppercorns. The barrel is medium-light in strength but adds a nice level of complexity to the beer with grapes, mild pleasant butter and light oak. Just a hint of sourness. The taste has moderate tartness. A bit less apricot flavor. A bit more pepper, a bunch more oak. Finish has more bitterness than Iíd prefer. Itís pleasant but could use a bunch more stone fruit juiciness. Light-medium body. Lower carbonation than expected. Fairly soft feel. Solid apricot sour.

Cloudy apple cider colored beer with a medium foamy bright white head that lasts. Subtle nose of vanilla, sweet cream, and a hint of fruit, but all of it is quite light. Flavor is more rich with bright apricot, lemon curd, and a bit of white vinegar with little of the creamy notes from the aroma. I really donít pick up the pepper, but there is a slight spicy bite in the aftertaste. Good beer.

Tap at the Watery Hole. Aroma is loads of apricot, peach too, no pepper. Very strong and boozy aroma. Taste is similar, some creaminess, fruit again, of course, maybe a touch of pepper at the end, but can hardly get it. Bit too full bodied for me.

Tap at Kool Keg. Fairly clear orange yellow color. White head. Woody notes upfront. Fruity notes apparent; wine. Flavor is Woody, fruit and grapes, saison zest, easy finish. Nice. Some vanilla as well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nicely hazy and dirty orange. Bit of foam. Fruity aroma, some sour notes but not too much of them. Taste is nicely funky, farmhouse style. Fruity and has still some malty backbone. Long malty and reward finish. Pretty nice actually.

Bottle from whole foods. Chardonnay barrel aged. Hazy apricot color with a white head. Aroma of Chardonnay, apricot, light pepper and bread with a hint of banana. Tastes yeasty, fruity, and grainy with some subdued woody wine barrel and pepper. Semi-dry, a little fizzy, medium bodied. Pretty good.

Nebraska Abricot au Poivre aged in Chardonnay barrels. 6.8% This beer pours a beautiful honey gold with a thick white head that leaves soapy lacing behind. Great aroma of fruity Chardonnay, white pepper and apricots. A bright joyful aroma. Effervescent with a surprising tart fruity hit, then soft oak and pepper plus funk. A somewhat sweet tartfruit characteras well. It finishes really dry, if you know a white wine drinker who hates beer give them this and youíll change their mind in no time. Wonderful with dinner, classing up my humble donburi.
