Our version of the classic English-style Nut Brown Ale has a blend of 6 different malts and very little hop bitterness. The malts are nutty and sweeter tilting toward coffee, toffee, and caramel.

Light chocolate and caramel malt. Tastes like something between chocolate malt ball candies and a blander version of Yoo-Hoo with much less sugar. Light, easy drinking. Can chug this quickly; not much to savor.

Can. Caramel aroma with slight toffee and a little bit of subtle hops. Pours murky brown colored with a thin tan head with no retention or lacing. Starts with caramel and some toffee sweetness, but overall a thin body for a brown. Finishes smooth with the above sweet malts throughout with just a touch of hoppiness to attempt to balance out the sweet. Decent brown, but lacks a bit of depth.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a nice post-work evening. First beer from NE! Appearance is dark brown with not much head. Aroma is faint, nothing really there. Taste is malty, but not syrupy malty, nice grainy element. Finish is lightly dry, decent stuff.

Draft. Pours a medium, light beige head, with slight lacing, over a clear, brown (SRM 20) body......nose is light cocoa, chocolate, light toffee/caramel, minimal hops, minimal esters, balance to the malts......taste is slightly sweet with light toffee/caramel, hints of cocoa, chocolate, finishing with hints of hop bitterness......mouth feel, light body, no alcohol, light carbonation. The malt backbone is very light in both aroma and flavor. As such, while this is a nice beer, it almost misses the true style. It needs a rework of the malt back bone, with much more caramel/crystal added. BJCP 6/3/10/4/6

Draught. Dark brown with reddish tint, creamy small beige head, doughy aroma, medium carbonation, thin body, slight caramel taste, abrupt finish with faint roasted malt aftertaste. A light but easy to drink brew.
