Our version of the classic English-style Nut Brown Ale has a blend of 6 different malts and very little hop bitterness. The malts are nutty and sweeter tilting toward coffee, toffee, and caramel.

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours cloudy brown with a medium, off-white head. Malty aroma with hints of roast and nuts. Flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, coffee and chocolate, and very lightly bitter. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Finishes sweet with mild, lingering maltiness. Decent.

A reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet nutty caramel malt with light grassy hops. In mouth, a nutty malt with faint grassy hops, a tad boring. On tap at Beer Authority.

Tap @ brewpub. Dark red orange appearance with a small off white head. Nutty, roasty caramel malty, a touch fruity aroma. Low carbonation. Dull nutty, caramel, toffee, roasty flavor. A bit off but ok.

Tap at Rattle N Hum. Brown pour with a tight off-white head. The nose has a touch of toasted malt but also a fairly pronounced fruity/estery quality. A bit sweet with an almost candied nut flavour on the back. Oddly bubble gummy and even a touch of soapiness comes out. Itís not really bad, but itís a fairly atypical brown ale.

On tap. A reddish/brown clear pour. This one is alot cleaner and more regular malt forward rather than roasty browny.

Keg, Blind Tiger, Bleecker St, Greenwich Village, 20/02/14. Ruby ringed with white. Really attractive brittle coffee bean aroma with hints of pistachio and chocolate. Deep layered malt, mellow English brown ale flavour with Curly Wurly, milky mocha, almond and butter biscuit notes. Some blueberry in the blender. Really balanced, rounded and good.

Growler brought back from the brewpub by Conor and Sarah- thanks again! Pours a semi-cloudy brown copper color with a small beige head that sticks. Aroma of toasted malts, earth, rust, dust, and a good amount of hazelnuts. Flavor of toasted malts, mixed nuts (hazelnut, pecan in particular), earth, and flat cola. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a nutty, toasty mouthfeel. Nice brown ale.

12oz can, from Perfect Pour. Very dark red color. Thin off-white / khaki head. Leaves decent rows of lace. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft / crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Easy-drinking. Caramel malt, good nuttiness, bit of chocolate. Some earthy hop, light hint of pine hop. Moderate bitterness. Lighter sweet. Seeing some of the coffee. Very easy to drink. Great one to wash my late night sandwich down with.
