JoeMcPhee (7622) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 30, 2010
Tap at Rattle N Hum. Brown pour with a tight off-white head. The nose has a touch of toasted malt but also a fairly pronounced fruity/estery quality. A bit sweet with an almost candied nut flavour on the back. Oddly bubble gummy and even a touch of soapiness comes out. It’s not really bad, but it’s a fairly atypical brown ale.

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours cloudy brown with a medium, off-white head. Malty aroma with hints of roast and nuts. Flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, coffee and chocolate, and very lightly bitter. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Finishes sweet with mild, lingering maltiness. Decent.

Tap at Lazy Boy Saloon. Pours a nice deep amber brown with a good lasting white head- some lace. Aroma is sharp nutty chocolate malts, light phenolic, earth, toast, and burnt biscuit. Flavor is earthy, nutty, toast, mildly sweet chocolate and caramel malts, earthy in the end dries out nicely and finish is pretty smooth. Pretty good for a brown ale.

On tap. A reddish/brown clear pour. This one is alot cleaner and more regular malt forward rather than roasty browny.

Growler brought back from the brewpub by Conor and Sarah- thanks again! Pours a semi-cloudy brown copper color with a small beige head that sticks. Aroma of toasted malts, earth, rust, dust, and a good amount of hazelnuts. Flavor of toasted malts, mixed nuts (hazelnut, pecan in particular), earth, and flat cola. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a nutty, toasty mouthfeel. Nice brown ale.
