Cellared 750 ml. bottle shared at the Sheraton Madison club level lounge for a post Great Taste party among friends. Thanks Chuck! Poured to "on the rocks" samplers showing good clarity to the mahogany color, but very modest off white head foam, as well as light lacing, but some leggy coating on the glass. The nose was dark fruit as raisin and prune, caramel, with some brown sugar sweetness. The flavor was similar, adding a low hop bitterness, maybe just a touch of tartness that was effervescence assisted, hidden alcohol at this point in my day, and a very smooth mouthfeel. Medium+ bodied, with appropriate carbonation. Nicely aged, and a very tasty toasting brew for the occasion.

Dark amber coloured body with a small tan head. Aroma of pit fruits, caramel and toffee-very nice! Medium to Full-bodied; Strong sweet flavour with good prunes and caramel in the taste. Aftertaste sweet and not bitter at all

A- pours a nice brown/caramel color with a solid tan head.
S- I get the whiskey barrel on the nose along with caramel notes.
T- Caramel greatness with a touch of whiskey and maybe a hint of vanilla.
M- Very smooth coasting across the tongue
O- a very well balanced malty barleywine with a nice hint of whiskey. Wish i had another one of these to age.

Bottle. Parks dark brown. Vanilla and oak nose. Flavor of dark caramel with a hint of roast, and I pick up lots of black licorice. Very dry and perhaps too overattenuated for my tastes

FoBAB 11í- well above average, but not game changing. Pours a ruby brown with an off white head. Nose and taste is of sweet malts, molasses, maybe figís. The hops are a sharp contrast to the malts and actually take away a bit from the balance of the beer IMO. Well worth trying.

The beer pours murky brown and gives the appearance of sediment in there. The aroma is super boozy - like isopropyl alcohol. The beer is boozy as well in flavor on a very thick body. You donít get the big notes of resiny sweetness, but the hops are still there.

On draught during GTMW 2010 in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a semi clear orange amber colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, a hint of bubble gum, raisins, chocolate and a hint of toffee. Taste is full bodied, sweet malty character of caramel, molasses, toffee, figs and raisin. Finish is sweet and alcohol-ish with a bite. A little hot for now but after five years, this would be something to really try.

Sampled at GTMW 2009. Brownish-orange pour with a thin white head. Aroma of mostly bubblegum and alcohol. For a barleywine this had very little hop character and, in my opinion, was too sweet. It was interesting, and possibly especially interesting as a barleywine. However, as a barleywine I immediately think of something different than what this beer was able to offer. Perhaps reading the commercial description first would have given me a different perspective.
