3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at Blind Tiger, New York, NY. Cloudy amber, small head. Rich aroma of marzipan and orange. Sweet and full bodied wtih clean, elegant malt, warming alccohol, grapefruity hops and evident almondy yeast character. Distinct, somewhat resiny bitterness. An intense, tasty beer.

Draft at Barcade. I was confused when I got this as I expected a standard IPA and thought I had the wrong beer. Fortunately, this is correct. Pours a slightly copper bronze. Nose is All-American hops, piney and citrusy, coupled with phenolic Belgian yeast. Interesting combination. On taste, it’s missing something. Tons of hop character with the tripel notes distinctly coming through. Light clove notes with a clean hop character. Pretty decent.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
CruShed at the Crescent Moon. Lots of banana-y esters on the nose. Flavor is similar. The hops come through a bit in the finish but it’s mostly dominated by the tripel fruitiness of banana bread and pears.

Tap at the brewpub. Medium gold with slightly opaque character. A long lasting off white head. Sweet cake donuts with some funk and leather. The taste has some funky leather with lots of orange rind in the finish. There is a strong yeasty note throughout, but it comlements the Belgian character. A big brew that is in your face. The aftertaste leaves your mouth dry and that helps to make it interesting. A good effort, but still far from my favorite style. I feel like the only one that doesn’t like Belgian styled IPA’s.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Growler. Pours a gorgeous, bright gold hue with a soft, pure white head. Nose of banana and yeast with just hints of hops. Flavor is more Belgian than IPA, but there is certainly some citrusy hop bite. The commercial description is right on in that this beer "will leave you begging for more!" Really damn good, and the 9.2% is nowhere to be seen. Mouthfeel is medium-light with decent carbonation and mild warming. Great beer.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Cresent Moon in Omaha. Pours clear golden with white head. Aromas of citrus, hops, and grain. Flavors of spicey and bitter hops, banana, clove, tropical fruits and citrus. Finishes bitter with a bit of an alcohol burn. The spicyness and banana belgian flavors seem to be fighting with the hops and citrus of an IPA instead of coming together. Tough to get through an entire pint.

Orange amber color. Citrus aroma, yeasty citrus taste. Finish is grassy and citrus and lingers. Hop load is large and diverse - I taste more each sip

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
GTMW 2009: Golden hue with a small head but very good lace. The aroma has notes of Belgian yeast esters, toffee, wine barrels, mango, apple, piney resiny and peppery hops. The taste is acidic and spicy with a fair amount of hop play in front and upon the finish. Bready malts and an earthy Belgian yeast undertone before a chewy biscuity finish. The mouth feel is lively and sharp, works nicely within the framework of the flavors. A real nice surprise, YUMMY, Yeah for Nebraska! (This should be listed as a DIPA IMO)

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
GABF 2009, while waiting in the insane New Glarus line. Clear golden-orange in color with a somewhat fizzy white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt and floral hops, good but somewhat unpronounced for an IPA that is meant to be West coast style. Flavor is sweet caramel malt and pale malt, light fruit, and citrusy/floral hops that lend more bitterness relative to aroma/flavor than a West coast style IPA should have. Just a touch of yeast present. I see this is meant to be a Belgian IPA. Think it fell a bit short on the Belgian aspects. Body and carbonation are medium.
