3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml from Sam’s, Durham. Quite an opaque, borderline murky dark orange pour. Looks gritty, sludgy, and almost sedimental. The beer is generally more appetizing than this first impression, though, and it starts off with an appealing ripe nose of yeast, abundant dry hops, and citrus rind. Smooth mouthfeel, almost no heat from the abv. Taste is big and buttery from the Chard, which complements the yeast quite well, and the dry hops provide a pleasant contrast in the taste, along with a moderately spicy finish. I’ve certainly had better beers in this general style, but this one was solid.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
I went and had a growler filled with Hop God at a local grocery store, with no previous knowledge of the brew, and wow, quite a pleasant surprise I must say. A bountiful citrus and complex hop aroma is noted up front, followed by visualization of a crystal clear amber pour with an expected two finger head. Taste is overtly malty and sweet with a smooth hop finish, noting bold notes of tempered red fruit, typical of Belgian yeasts yet perfectly complementing the grain bill which I assume included the infamous Special B malt. Palate is thick and reminiscent of an imperial stout, which is always a plus with a crystal clear IPA like this (in my book). Pleasantly surprising. Overall, worth the price and I will definitely buy more. This may even out compete Surly Furious in my book.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a brilliant orange / amber with nice filled that falls into some lingering lace. Nose is citrus and sour. Taste is similar to the nose: sour start, fading into a ever so slight bitter finish that lingers on the tongue. The well masked alcohol makes this one dangerously good!

I think it is a bit overrated for the name. Pretty good beer. Tried it on tap a few times.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at The Bridge-St Louis-Pours bright orange with a lovely soapy white head with nice lacing and just looks great overall. Nose is nuts! phenols, honey, sweet citrus with some lite alcohol heat. Definatley there but not over bearing. robust flavors of sweet phenolic belgian yeast qualities with big bitter/resinous hops, especially on the finish. Wow a really crazy beer here not alot of alcohol heat on the flavors masked more by the robust hops. This beer almost becomes plastic tasting. The bitterness goes on for a long time. This isnt really the most balanced beer out there however, its a very challenging and unique twist to this saturated style.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Dexters. Hazy orange tan. Big, creamy, off-white head. Fruity taste and aroma, some citrus, maybe even guava melon. Sugary malt depth, maybe some candi sugar or Belgian yeast notes. Not overly astringent, smooth melon tones, tropical. A pretty good Belgian IPA, would have benefited from a little more lively carbonation. Guave, honey, toasted malt. Well done.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Several samples at the 2011 KC Strong Ale Festival. Pour is a clouded golden yellow with a smallish off white head. Aroma is big floral hop, clove yeast, and a nice tannin mineral element. Taste combines the elements of the nose, floral hops and clove yeast up front, some resin carries the finish to the dry tannic finish. Palate is medium t heavy bodied, with a decent amount of alcohol in the finish. This had an interesting intentional (I assume)roughness to it.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a hazy deep gold color. Aroma is of hops, bark, citrus, a little earthiness, and grass. Flavor is similar with a slight sweetness that comes through in the back end. That might be Belgian yeast I taste. Overall this isn’t too bad.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Wow excellent beer and pretty much the way they describe it. Poured with a medium sized of white head and some a little lace. Color is a clear deep yellow amber with some slow bubble trails. Aroma is malt, hop, yeast, fruit. Flavor is like nose and much more intense in all regards. Great balance between the 3 main flavors of sweet bitter and sour. The body is good and so is carbonation. Finish is like flavor and tapers to hop and yeast bitterness. No sign of the alcohol.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
GTMW 2011. Poured a hazy copper color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate complex citrus hop aroma. Medium body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium citrus bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good drinkable brew.
