4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Had up at Freetail in San Antonio for the Old Bat Rastard bottle release, shared with some awesome BA’s from San Antone and Austin and provided by Scott, owner of one of the best brewpubs in Texas, Freetail!
Pours out a light gold with some haze.. foam is sturdy and lacing is ample..
Smell is wonderful, light sweet notes, very light oak, sugar, hints of fresh squeezed hops, and some mellow honey and citrus..
Taste will absolutely blow you away. amazing stuff, from the sturdy hop presence, to the light honey, to the fun yeast/oak flavours; this is just to hard to describe without doing this beer justice!
not only that but the mouthfeel for a beer of this caliber is untouchable.. smooth as silk, with not even a hint of the 10%.. the abv is hiding so well you should check your pockets..
ALL and all this beer is just amazing..
I want it again and again and drinking it with new friends made it that much better..
I raise my glass!

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
From notes..one of the top 3 or so offerings from Savor this past June, obviously this is not the ideal setting to be trying to take notes, but this really impressed, stood out from most other offerings, had a ton of complexity, and extremely drinkable..would love to see how this would age..seek it out..

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Tastes like an IPA sour--Chardonnay yeasts bringing the citrus flavor out of the 108 IBU hop flavor. Cloudy in appearance, orange color, thick foamy head that relaxes after a bit. Big mouthful. Lovely. Recommend, recommend.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
First rate in awhile. I felt the beer deserved it. A rare re-purchase at $25/750. Aroma seamlessly weaves equal notes of citrus, dough, oak, and fruity chardonnay. Flavor is sweet-fruity up front but develops a complimentary tartness (orangey tartness, not lacto tartness) to balance the sweetness. Bitterness level may be hefty, though it comes across as fairly mild amidst the sweeter notes from the malt, yeast, and chardonnay. Full bodied but not overwhelmed with sticky sugar. Soft carbonation, appropriate with all the subtler fruit notes. Didn’t get any funky notes other raters have mentioned. A real winner of a beer from a barrel not often seen in the beer world. Well, well worth it.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 ml bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy copper with off-white head. Nose is resiny hops, tangerine, tropical fruit, oaky and peppery notes. Tastes fairly dense on the palate, very complex, rich, very hoppy with a huge malt bill, a lot of tropical fruit notes, and some peppery notes. Very well made as usual from these guys.

Bottle. Clear golden with a fizzy white head. Very nice floral and fruity aroma and taste with notes of green apple, pear, caramel white wine, vanilla and oak with a soft silky palate.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thank you Josh for sharing this one! 750ml bottle. Poured a medium and hazy golden/amber color with a very large sized off white head. Aromas of funkiness, vanilla, citrus, wood, and some wine. Tastes of the same nice funkiness, oak, vinous, vanilla, and citrus. This one was very good and took me by surprise!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Stellar freaking beer! lightly hazy gold color, white head. Aroma is loaded with white grapes, hops, yeast, sweet yeast, and spice. Flavor is a blend of hops, sweet malt, the chardonnay barrels offer such creaminess and yeasty notes, great spice. Awesome stuff.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at Rattle n Hum. Poured a medium golden amber with a small foamy head. Nose is hops, apricot, and a hint of wild yeast. So if you had just heard the name of this you would expect another hop bomb, and how wrong i was. As soon as it hit my tongue I said Wow! Apricot and hops and then a hint of sour which led me to think Brett. Do I dare compare this to Temptation? YES!
Lightly sour with a wonderful malt base. Some sweet and tart flavors, possibly a good intoduction to sour ale, as the sour notes compliment the hops nicely. The barrel aging really worked well in this example. Ordered this on a recomendation from Paul the brewer and shared by my new friend Howard. Thanks to both.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
In short: Topical fruits, white wine barrels, rustic dank cellar and a ton of grapefruity/lemony hops. Excellent and unique.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed one month after purchase but this kind of fancy pricey bottle may have been sitting there for 6 months.
The look: Cloudy golden blonde body topped by a medium off-white head with medium retention
In long: Nose has plenty of white wine barrels, tropical fruits, freshly cut grass. Overall there was something about the aroma that I would describe as “dank cellar” that gave the beer aroma a bit of a rustic semi-wild edge. Very intriguing aroma. Taste is an original mix of white wine barrel aged blonde Belgian ale with a whole lot of high-alpha-acid grapefruity and lemony American hops. The wine barrels were perfectly integrated and didn’t grab all the palate attention, plenty of pineapples and other tropical fruits as well as some yellow not-too-ripe bananas. Also some countryside flowers. The biting bitter grapefruity/lemony hops were almost overwhelming and reminded me of the Port Brewing Mongo that I had the a few days before. This is a great original beer. The only problem with this beer is the price, but I bought a bottle anyway because I treat each day as if it was my only day on earth. Just in case I woke up a mayfly and I didn’t realize.
