COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black as night and every bit Imperial, this RIS was originally launched to tremendous accolades. Going further, this Stranahan’s Whiskey barrel aged version meshes the rich chocolates, the coffee-like aromatics with the sweet whiskey nose and drying character of the oak. Slightly behind on the palette are the hops – held in restraint by the wonderfully full mouthfeel and broad flavors brought on by the perfect blend of so many malted barley varieties.

On tap at Zeno’s. Black with thin tan head. Aroma is chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, vanilla, oak and whiskey. Surprisingly tame and unique for an imperial stout. Nice.

Dark cola black with half finger khaki head. Smells of musty, oak bourbon, chocolate, cherry, malty. Taste is roasty charred hops, cigarette ash, musty oak, bakers chocolate, cocoa. Sweet chocolate malt back end with some caramel malt, a little vanilla. Good balance, a bit spice, but mostly roasty chocolate ash. Enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Mindwarp (99) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 31, 2014
Pours black with a thick tan head. Head looks thick with a little bit of lacing on glass. Aroma is sweet whisky with a slight hint of chocolate deep in the background. Taste is whisky but not overpowering.(Disclaimer- finished a Southern Tier Choklat before this so any hint of chocolate in the taste probably wont be detected by me.) Overall a really good B.A Stout.

Beautiful black pour w/ a big mocha head that leaves a large ring of lacing. The aroma is licorice, coffee, chocolate, and booze. The taste is light and creamy upfront and finishes bitter on the palate making this more of a sipping beer. This is a rich and flavorful imperial! Makes for a great dessert beer!

750ml bottle pours out almost black topped with a tan head. Nose is vanilla bourbon oak roast malts and some chocolate. Taste is as the nose with a nice booze bourbon barrel kick vanilla chocolate malts and some light smoke.

"Starts out incredibly smooth and balanced. Roasted malts, chocolate, and the obvious but not overpowering whiskey presence. Like the other Nebraska barrel projects, super smooth. The only thing preventing a 4.5 here is a little heat in the flavor as the beer warms, but it is approaching world class even so."

Quite dark, classic rich vanilla and brown sugar impy, sweet, boozy, rich dark malts, has some basic vanilla, touch of booziness. A straightforward bourbon impy.
