COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black as night and every bit Imperial, this RIS was originally launched to tremendous accolades. Going further, this Stranahan’s Whiskey barrel aged version meshes the rich chocolates, the coffee-like aromatics with the sweet whiskey nose and drying character of the oak. Slightly behind on the palette are the hops – held in restraint by the wonderfully full mouthfeel and broad flavors brought on by the perfect blend of so many malted barley varieties.

On tap at Zeno’s. Black with thin tan head. Aroma is chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, vanilla, oak and whiskey. Surprisingly tame and unique for an imperial stout. Nice.

Well this was a nice surprise. Thickish black body. Big woody bourbon aroma. Nice chocolate bourbon taste. Best comparison I could give is it is very similar to Barrel Aged Plead the 5th. Had the BAPT5 earlier in the day and almost felt like I was drinking it again.

Bottle. This is a nice roasty stout with near perfect balance. Wish I could get this where I live.

The best beer we tried at my graduation. Black oil, creamy mouthfeel, chocolate, vanilla, wood, and whisky.

Bottle. Black but fairly thin, with a big expanding khaki head. Nice filmy layer on the glass. The nose exhibits caramel, black licorice, tar and marshmallow. The flavor’s smooth as hell -- lots of dark chocolate, very woody, some licorice and burnt coffee beans. Woodsy, piney. Nice coca cola flavor as it warms. Medium-light body, nice creaminess, fairly carbonated. Fizzy. Not a ton of noticeable alcohol. A smooth, woodsy, drinkable imperial stout. Good subtlety on the bourbon.

750 ml bottle, Adrien picked up in his new state of Nebraska. Much more affordable in NE. Pitch black with a nice lasting tan head. Aroma is thick chocolate, caramel candies, and nice amounts of whiskey.

The flavor is a nicely rounded by the whiskey barrel. The body is full and dense with a nicely full body. The flavor makes me think of the Ram Jam song, totally stuck in my head. Everything I want in a Impy Stout. Espresso beans, burnt barley, thick chocolate malts with a finish of mild whiskey, alcohol is only slightly noticeable. This is Damn good!

750mL bottle shared by Adrien, thanks! Pours nearly black with a beige head. Bam a lam! Aroma is dark chocolate, whiskey. Flavor follows. Dark chocolate, whiskey. Really nice.

75CL. Thanks Adrien. Pitch Black. 2 finger dark tan brown, very creamy head. Aroma is plenty of licorice, coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Overall, a solid RIS aroma. Lots of chocolate and espresso taste. Good mouthfeel, really well depth and brownie batter. This is awesome. I’d like it a little bit sweeter, maybe thicker.
