COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black as night and every bit Imperial, this RIS was originally launched to tremendous accolades. Going further, this Stranahanís Whiskey barrel aged version meshes the rich chocolates, the coffee-like aromatics with the sweet whiskey nose and drying character of the oak. Slightly behind on the palette are the hops Ė held in restraint by the wonderfully full mouthfeel and broad flavors brought on by the perfect blend of so many malted barley varieties.

Location/Date:Bottle split Dave on October 26th, 2012.

Appearance:Pours dark opaque with red head.
Aroma:Aroma of whiskey, roast, nice amount but not overdoing it.
Taste:Medium roastiness, light bitter, faint oak, whiskey/bourbon.
Palate:Medium body, light lingering aftertaste. Not slick like other IS. Covers alcohol well.

Summary: Thanks for sharing this one Dave! I really enjoyed this one because it was a balanced, not as super aggressive IS. The whiskey is there but not killer, which is really nice. Wish I could have this more often.Note: Iím shocked none of the people I follow on RB have had this yet. Wow. Yes, I know Dave will rate within two days.

Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Smells strongly of chocolate and some dark fruit notes. Taste is sweet, chocolate, and hints of fruit. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Nebraska Black Betty finishes with a subtle booziness.

Draft at Mekong. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Fairly roasty on the nose with lots of Hop notes. Thick and viscous on the tongue with lots of hop flavor. Has some solid bitterness on the finish to keep things clean. Solid example of style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thick and heavy black in color and feel. Woody, chocolate, some dark fruits in the end for a sweet balance. The high ABV sneaks up for sure. Bottle

750 mL bottle shared with Gus. The pour is a dark brown/light black with a thicker khaki head that falls slowly leaving a good bit of lacing. The aroma is nicely roasty with a good bit of barrel and a light whiskey. There is a decent dark chocolate mixed in. Itís very plain, but well done. The flavors are nice. There is a good barrel up front and a lovely roasty malt and lighter dark chocolate. Itís interesting. Itís a blend of heavy malt and roast and nice bitterness. The mouth feel is a little thin with a nice soft carbonation and. A lingeringly boozy roast that comes through and carries it nicely to the finish. This is a pretty tasty beer
