COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Melange a Trois begins with a wonderfully big Strong Belgian-Style Blonde Ale and moves into the extraordinary category through an additional 6 month French Oak Chardonnay Wine Barrel maturation. The essence of Chardonnay permeates while a subtle sweetness remains from the Ale itself. Oak tannins combine to create a fascinating mesh of dry, sweet, and wine-like character. One of our favorites!

Bottle:   Straw in color, cloudy, large frothy white head, nice lacing.   Tangy, tart, vibrant nose.   Slight woodiness, rather floral on the tongue.   Fruity, bright, warming, alcohol isn’t biting but it is noticeable.   Has this peach/apricot skin aspect to it, along with some barrel aged character.   This is really intriquing.   Chardonnay aspects appear on the backside.   This is from Nebraska???   Almost has a meaty Tripel like appeal to it.   Body and mouthfeel are fairly full.   Finish shows some candied citrus peel like characters.   This one is really interesting.   Hard to fit this one into any particular category. &Nbsp Its like a Belgian Golden, yet somewhat like a big Saison, and then again like a Tripel.   Lots of depth to this one.   Happy to have tried a beer from Nebraska, moreso one this good!

Thanks Scott .. . Pours a shimmering gold yellow .. pillowy head, lacing is a light meringue splatters .. . quite fizzy, almost duvel like .. . flavours of wood, honey, spice, belgian yeast, and tattoo gun tip .. . A nice nice beer but it needs to calm down a bit to really make it great .. . You were supposed to be here guarding Bernie!

Bottle… Hazy yellow ale with a large, frothy, white head. Grainy, pale malt nose with nuances of very old cheese and shoe funk. Medium to full-bodied with a buttery mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. The flavor is a bit too sweet, although the high abv is not at all front-and-center. Notation of honey. Subdued, tannic bitterness. Finishes crisp, mostly sweet, and then dry. There was an awful lot left on the table here as much more could have been done to make this baby interesting. Mundane. Bottle courtesy of Beerlando!

Bottle at the December Santa Cruz tasting. Pours dark gold with a foamy white head. Aromas of fleshy white stone fruits and white wine. Also some woody and floral notes. Peachy flavor with a touch of oaky butteriness as well as the unmistakeable chardonnay character. These guys threw a lot of stuff at the wall for this beer but somehow it all stuck. Very good.

Cloudy golden with a lasting white head. Somewhat yeasty aroma with fruit and berries and a floral touch. Sweet fruity flavour, with a bit of berry tartness, but way too sweet

FoBAB 2010, Bottle: Pours a clean brilliant golden hue with a frothy head and very nice lace. The aroma has notes of honey, butterscotch, pear, white grape, pepper, cardamom, biscuity and pils malts, hint of caramel, and some dusty oak vapours. The taste is not as sweet nor struck by butterscotch that the nose led on. Sure there are some sweet malt but those are craftily balanced by acidic fruits, popping spice, straw pils malt and even a bit of a "peat like" smoky tones. Rolls on the palate like a smooth liquor. The finish is light tannic and mostly clean. The biggest surprise of the fest for me, I got the glass only because I was in the neighborhood for the Oak Rye IPA. It turned out this was the better and more different brew! Yeah again for Nebraska Brewing... where were these guys when I lived in Bellevue?
