3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at Redlight Redlight courtesy of the Orlando ratebeer crew; January 2011
This pours with a frothy, white colored head that sits on top of a hazed, amber-gold colored beer. The beer smells lightly tart, definitely yeasty, a definite oak influence, there is a chardonnay fruit like character as well as a hint of vanillin and some buttery-oak character. I was expecting to be able to smell some Brettanomyces influence and funkiness, but the nose is quite clean.
My first sip has me noticing a big vanilla flavor to it from the oak as well as a solid chardonnay grape fruitiness and even tartness (this seems to be from the grapes rather than from any wile influence). This beer is not really funky at all & I have had to recalibrate my expectations of this beer. This drinks quite a bit smaller than the 10% alcohol would suggest, there is some viscous heft to the texture, but it is definitely light for its strength.
After tasting this beer, the vanillin in the nose comes out quite a bit more prominently. This beer has a very nice chardonnay character, but it would definitely benefit from some funkiness; it is good as it is, but that can’t keep me for wishing for more. This is perhaps the best chardonnay character in a beer that I have had.

cloudy body, with a moderate head. Neutral aromas. Above average mouthfeel, very drinkable, and gentle masterful blend of the chardonnay barrelling taste and the Belgian blonde. A great and simple idea, well executed.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a three finger tight, white head that fades very slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy light amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is funky sour fruit, flavor is sweet and tart fruit, Not finding any white wine flavors. High ABV is hidden. Warming. Good but not worth $23.99 for a 750ml bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: Pours a cloudy dark gold with a fluffy head that subsides to a thin yet dense cap. A few visible pieces of yeast sediment float around the goblet.
Aroma: Faint white wine, vanilla, fruit, funky sour yeast.
Taste: A sharp vanilla tannic oak note to start, a white wine bite on the front of the tongue. Spices, banana and euro hops. Has a great subtle sour note that weaves in and out through the entire session.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with average carbonation.
Overall: I was blown away by this beer. Very well done, very complex, super tasty.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
After having tried the NBC Hop God and Apricot au Poivre, The bar has been set pretty high for this brewery. Lots of honey and melon aromas. Very rich palate. Flavor is fruity - pear, maybe, and honey. Good, but not as good as the other two. Still, I’ve been very impressed with this brewery.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle:   Straw in color, cloudy, large frothy white head, nice lacing.   Tangy, tart, vibrant nose.   Slight woodiness, rather floral on the tongue.   Fruity, bright, warming, alcohol isn’t biting but it is noticeable.   Has this peach/apricot skin aspect to it, along with some barrel aged character.   This is really intriquing.   Chardonnay aspects appear on the backside.   This is from Nebraska???   Almost has a meaty Tripel like appeal to it.   Body and mouthfeel are fairly full.   Finish shows some candied citrus peel like characters.   This one is really interesting.   Hard to fit this one into any particular category. &Nbsp Its like a Belgian Golden, yet somewhat like a big Saison, and then again like a Tripel.   Lots of depth to this one.   Happy to have tried a beer from Nebraska, moreso one this good!
