COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Melange a Trois begins with a wonderfully big Strong Belgian-Style Blonde Ale and moves into the extraordinary category through an additional 6 month French Oak Chardonnay Wine Barrel maturation. The essence of Chardonnay permeates while a subtle sweetness remains from the Ale itself. Oak tannins combine to create a fascinating mesh of dry, sweet, and wine-like character. One of our favorites!

Half a year of chardonnay barrel aging has given has given Melange a Trois a vinous and slightly earthy note. Yeast notes are bright with fruit esters and bread sweetness. Flavors have some spice and a hint of tropical hops. This would be a lovely Belgian Ale for a meal. It’s big enough and complex enough to stand up to rich dishes and compliment bold flavors. Or, in the true spirit of the Melange a Trois, perhaps this beer would be best enjoyed in the post-coital afterglow with two attractive companions.

19 Jan 2016, bottle. hazy yellow. nose is faintly tart, some lemon rind, sweet, floral. thin/med body and mildly fizzy. belgian ale yeast and alcohol but not too big. sweet, earthy, some yeast. can’t say i notice much of the barrel aging but perhaps that is what tames this from the typical big alcohol in the belgian strong ale. nice.

Nice hazy color. Typical yeast and spices. Chardonnay barrel really shines through. Big beer, not overly complex but enjoyable. I like it !

Frothy dimpled head over a hazy straw colored pour. Aroma of coriander, tart bananas, spice. Similar taste, not at all boozy considering the ABV. Breathy, bready finish with sweet, dark fruit maltiness, grapes. Complexity increased greatly with warmth.

Pours a hazy golden body, plenty of suspended yeasts The cap is thin and leaves patchy lace. Aroma is chardonnay, and oak up front with sweet candi sugar, and spicy yeasts coming out as it warms. Flavor starts off a ball of wood, alcohol, and chardonnay, with the flavor rapidly changing towards the blonde ale attributes. Overall its rather interesting, not a big wine fan but i like it.

Hazy golden orange in color with foamy white head... Aroma of white wine grapes, Chardonnay oak... Light citrus notes... Flavor is light citrus, grains, Chardonnay oak, finishes kind of harsh, alcohol bite on palate... Okay ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy gold pour, decent white head that holds it’s own. Nose is Belgian yeast and white grapes. Sweet, but not cloying. Middle is soft biscuit malt, chardonnay essence, subtle Belgian yeast still lurking. Finish is smooth and warming. I did not want to like this, grapes and beer don’t usually do it for me, but this was so balanced. Went great with a homemade chicken pot pie.
