COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Melange a Trois begins with a wonderfully big Strong Belgian-Style Blonde Ale and moves into the extraordinary category through an additional 6 month French Oak Chardonnay Wine Barrel maturation. The essence of Chardonnay permeates while a subtle sweetness remains from the Ale itself. Oak tannins combine to create a fascinating mesh of dry, sweet, and wine-like character. One of our favorites!

Draft. Golden hazy pour with white foamy head. Nice Chardonnay oak and light tart aromas. Flavor doesn’t exactly match, woody with some light vinous tones.

Tap at El Bait Shop. Murky amber pour with a smaller white head. Oak and wine / grape notes. Rich. Medium slick palate. Very tasty stuff!

Bottle. Pours a hazy, almost opaque gold with a white, creamy, fine-grained head. Big nose; fleshy, perfumed, bready, and spicy, it’s reminiscent of both its sources; you can smell the Chardonnay as well as the Belgian blonde. Very smooth on the tongue, with low carbonation; it starts out savory, like mild tart cheese on fresh wheat bread, then shifts into an earthy, mushroomy, buttery creaminess. This is a chameleon of a brew, its primary palate moving through multiple elements -- but butter and tartness stay with it. The finish is sauteed mushrooms with herbs and just a tinge of hops bitterness. Really astonishing in its complexity. Bravo.

750 from Adrien during his Going away party. Nice hazy gold color, lasting head. Aroma is oaky, strong yeast notes and a mild funky Chardonnay. The flavor shows a strong alcohol note with the yeast strong in character with a pale grain backing. Chardonnay barrel is noticeable and blend well together.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with a thick white head that lasts leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is funk and yeast. Medium mouth, light funk, spice, belgian yeast, hides alcohol well, very good.
