COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wick for Brains is our classic and painstakingly produced Fall Pumpkin Ale. Instead of simply using spice, we use real pumpkin which lends a sweetness and pumpkin flavor not found in many Pumpkin Ales. Wonderful pumpkin pie spice intertwined in an Amber Ale creates a pumpkin sensation which is elegantly crafted. Notes of Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Clove, Ginger and Allspice blend perfectly in this seasonal Ale. There are many Pumpkin Ales out there crafted by some wonderful breweries Ė we feel that ours stands among them and in some cases Ė stands apart.

Bottle, shared by me... in my dining room... just now.
Pours a bright orange color with a small but well retained head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is pretty spice forward most particularly pronouced are the cinnamon and ginger with a touch of clove. It does have some maltiness and a touch of pumpkin flesh, but itís generally pretty spice forward. Kudos to the brewers here on getting ginger to smell so fresh in the final product, so many beers with ginger seem to come off as medicinal.

The flavor is very nice, itís got zippy spicy notes of cinnamon and ginger with more subdued clove and nutmeg. Itís got a nice pumpkin flesh thing going on. This beer is only a touch sweet and does have a nice mild bitterness to it. It always seems like the best pumpkin beers are generally sweeter and donít incorporate a lot of bitterness, but this one pulls off the balance just right.

The mouthfeel is zippy and full.

One of the better pumpkin beers Iíve had.

Tap. Pours clear copper with fizzy off-white head. Aroma is pumpkin, nutmeg, lightly toasted malts, and faint cinnamon. Flavor is what you?d expect from a basic pumpkin beer with some nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon, a touch of hops, and faint woodiness. Medium body and carbonation.

Pours a medium amber with a small white head. Aroma is lite and spicy with cinnamon and nutmeg most noted. Easy drinking clean beer that at 6.1 abv can actually leave room for more then one. The thing I like most is the spices do not over power all beer flavors like malts the shine in the finsh.

Pours a lightly hazy golden with a medium white creamy head. Aroma of a nice mix of pumpkin pie spices and pie crust. Flavor of the same. Not a whole lot to say about a straight forward pumpkin ale like this..except that it was well done.

On draft last night @ Blind Tiger for the pumpkin fest with James, Andy, Streets, Annie, Visco, Brazilians. Dark orange pour into shaker. Unremarkable aroma. Taste was not too much pumpkin; tasted more like an amber ale with some hints of pumpkin spice and some bland hop bitterness. Pretty OK.
