Our version of the classic English-style Nut Brown Ale has a blend of 6 different malts and very little hop bitterness. The malts are nutty and sweeter tilting toward coffee, toffee, and caramel.

Color- brown with flecks of red. Has a nice head and pretty decent lacing. Nose- roasted toffee and a hint of coffee. Flavor- roasted malts, a bit thin, smooth. Okay.

Very delicious Brown Ale. Usually the style is too rich for me, but not this one.

A deep auburn body briefly supports a short, fairly tight off white head creating a few dots of lace and a solid, thick ring

light notes of caramel, coffee cake, syrup drizzled pancakes, and subtle smoke on light, smooth body with well controlled carbonation leading to a clean, faint residual of the previously mentioned components tilted a bit towards the darker side

light intensity, mild complexity, decent session

12oz can served just over 40º into 14.7oz Zwiesel Cognac snifter

Can from Beer Study. Pretty clean ruby copper pour with one finger of beige tan head. Nose has a definitively nutty quality with some toasted grain and biscuity/bready notes. Definitely earthy/rustic malt forward in the nose and flavor. Flavor is a little light but shows clean and biscuity malt flavors and light sweetness. Medium light body.

Aroma is earthy/mildly gritty malts and nutty notes. The flavor is nutty malts, mild earthiness, fruit and and a slightly tart finish.

12oz can, from Perfect Pour. Very dark red color. Thin off-white / khaki head. Leaves decent rows of lace. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft / crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Easy-drinking. Caramel malt, good nuttiness, bit of chocolate. Some earthy hop, light hint of pine hop. Moderate bitterness. Lighter sweet. Seeing some of the coffee. Very easy to drink. Great one to wash my late night sandwich down with.

12oz can. A pretty solid US brown ale. Malty, easy going, clean...yet some decent depth. Nutty, caramel brown malts, maybe a touch of amber malt, all very judicious. Medium bodied, filtered, quite drinkable. Good.

Crisp light brown coloured body with a deep bronzed glow and a nice single centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of light malt, brown sugar, nuts, earth and even hints of fruit with the slightest note of a hop. Medium-bodied; Assertive hazelnut and walnut flavours at first with a very light body, some light caramel sweetness and not much else aside from earth. Aftertaste is rather one-dimensional as well with the softer nuts hitting then some sugars - no complexity and no (this is good) bitterness or depth. Overall, a somewhat muted brown with a sweet finish and not showing the typical deepness or nuttiness of a brown, more soft and sweet. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Good Beer in New York, New York on 25-April-2014 for US$2.59 sampled at home in Washington on 03-June-2014.
