A sweet nose greets the adventurous in this marriage of our Black Betty Russian Imperial Stout and 50 year old American Brandy barrels. An elegantly pleasant surprise wakes the palate which migrates from a hint of Brandy into the wonderfully lingering roasted malt character.

Hoping for a little more sweetness but this is solid stuff. In our beer world so full of bourbon barrel everything, Sexy Betty brings a distinctive and welcome character to the imperial stout table.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy/creamy, brown, fully lasting. Body is black (non-opaque, flashlight tested). Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, dark chocolate), with notes of vanilla, marshmallow, alcohol, light note of oak. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Full body, creamy texture, soft/lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic. Relatively drinkable for an 11% impy, but the nose is pretty simple and uninspiring. Nice appearance and mouthfeel (if a bit too burning) help a bit, but this just doesn’t rise about "decent".

Tap at world of beer sugar land. Black with a lightly lacing creamy beige head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, coffee, and light booze barrel, but surprisingly mild. Taste is roasty, moderately boozy, and moderately sweet. Medium-full bodied. Smooth. Nice but somewhat subdued.

750ml bottle from the Malt Shoppe in Tosa, shared with bananabi11. Fresh - not sure that is ideal, but we were anxious to try. Sweet cognac, especially in the nose. Also nose has caramel and some smoke. Taste follows with the sweet caramel, light nut and some raisin/grape all sitting on a solid sweet cognac base. There is meat smoke weaving in and out, but it is not a significant presence. Some alcohol. This was quite enjoyable. Equivalent - in a different way - to the quality of the base brew. Nice! 14.7

2014 bottle, popped the cap and imidiately you smell the brandy. Pouring the first glass there is quite a head. Lots of liquor and toasty goodness. Figs and licorice are dominate. Love this!!!

75cl bottle at the Jan 2016 Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group meeting. Cheers to me for bringing it over from the US for my friends. What a cracking brew. Powerful, tasteful and alcohol full. Brandy and chocolate notes fill your senses as you sniff and taste the beer and it’s strong malty base. A delight to drink and my first ever beer from the State of Nebraska.

75cl bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, Jan 16, courtesy of Jeremy! Many thanks for sharing the most expensive bottle of beer you’ve ever bought. We are humbled. Pours dark with thin tan head. Awesome chocolatey brandy aroma. Taste brings smooth boozy dark flavours of chocolate malt, dark fruits and espresso roast. A lovely finale to a lovely evening of booze.
