3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle courtesy of Gator from TBS. Thanks! Pours a nice jet black, not much head. My first impression is that they went hard on the vanilla, I had no idea it was barrel-aged. Makes sense. Smell is definite vanilla, maybe some coconut and coffee. Taste is similar. Smooth, nice texture. I enjoyed it....probably would’ve been better if the bourbon barrel aged it a bit longer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
[Bottle] purchased at City Beer. Pours deep brown with almost no head. Aroma is lightly tart, some roasted malts, and eggy batter. There is really no barrel character detectable and little to no coffee. Flavor is very roasty, little/no barrel, medium bodied, and bitter coffee. Nothing special, however I think the Dane’s would love this one for the intense roast.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22. Pours jet black with a dense, creamy, very short-lived dun-colored head that falls quickly away to a few sloppy bubbles and some intermittent stringy lace. Big sweetly boozy nose, tons of residual sugar and lots of hot phenolic twang. Chocolate emerges steadily as it warms. Sticky thick body, understated carb. Chocolate, residual malt sugars everywhere (even when the beer is still really cold), and lots of booze on the mid-palate. This is the classic chili or braising stout--not much bitterness, lots of interesting bready malt sugars kicking around, and a payload of booze that could stand to be boiled off.
