4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Pours a near black cor with a small tan head on it. Nose has a lot of roasting on it, with just a hint of some dark fig in there. Taste is roasty and very chocolatey and super smooth. Very much like velvet. Yum

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
2012 bottle, cellared. Near-black with red tinge when held to light with moderate beige head. Aroma of leather, figs, and coffee. Flavors include dark fruits, with a touch of coffee and chocolate. Booze is slightly hidden, but you can certainly still pick up the heat. Great beer.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Hearty aromas of chocolate, coffee, and slight booze. Black with dark ruby highlights and a lasting khaki head. Mostly dry with a touch of raisiny sweetness, strong, redolent of port wine. Full bodied, chewy, moderately syrupy, thick and smooth, warming alcohol sensation, finishes quite clean especially considering the complexity.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appearance: inky pour with a short ring of dark brown head, syrupy legs. Aroma: licorice, dark chocolate, soy sauce, coffee grounds. Taste: bitter chocolate, black licorice, soy sauce, bourbon, espresso. Finish: dry, bitter, syrupy, with a lingering unsweet molasses note. Notes: Not very good, compared to others in the style. Decidedly one-note level of bitterness, it could have used substantial smoothing and balance.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Amazing imperial. Almost no head and pours almost total black. Strong pipe tobacco and bitter chocolate predominate. Great balance. Just a little sweetness and proper bitterness for counterpoint. A bit of coffee in the finish. Faint bourbon character.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Here we go! A little more head and a little more lacing, and this could’ve been a high score for me. Perfect dark brown color, and the aroma is terrific... mocha and caramel. Nice strong coffee and chocolate.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma of coffee and bourbon, an ebony colour with a small transient head. Rich complex taste of coffee, bourbon, and chocolate, a slightly bitter palate of chocolate and malt with a hint of phenol.
