Appearance is black, totally opaque with a tan head. Aroma is vanilla, cocoa and dark fruits. Flavor is almost like fruitcake, really rich and smooth with vanilla and chocolate

Massive vanilla, bourbon, oak, and chocolate milk aroma. Solid black appearance with a thick brown foam rim. Very thick, smokey bourbon notes with a ton of chocolate, coffee, espresso, mocha and toffee flavors. This is very smokey, with a touch of oak and I can get the tobacco flavors mentioned in the description. The finish hits your palate with massive alcohol and bourbon burn on the throat. Overall, this is a massive beer with strong malt flavors and intense bourbon alcohol on the throat. I’d give this an A+ rating.

Aroma of bourbon, dark fruit, coffee and chocolate some coffee like acidity. The wine barrels peak though with the dark fruit touch that seems slightly tannic. It’s a nice touch. Appears black with a slight tan foamy ring. Mouthfeel is thin taste is chocolate coffee bourbon still slightly boozy. Sticky sweet mocha like flavor.

Had this beer sitting for a while. This beer poured with a nice head and wonderful aroma. The mouth is smooth and creamy with a wonderful mix of coffee, vanilla, and almond.

bomber shared, poured almost black with minimal head. the aroma was pretty good. lots of deep roasted malt, lots of chocolate and cofffee touches, was just sitting there enjoying the aroma when i snapped to and said i must drink. the flavor is strong and bold. lots of chocolate and coffee mixed with this roasted malt made for a very good beer. alcohol hidden well so you dont get that boozy taste on the end.

Bottle drank at The Loft NYC. Pours black with a huge head. Aroma is deep boozy licorice, raisin, malt, chocolate. Flavor is similar deeply sweet , boozy, dusty, dark roast coffee bitter. Body is light but feel is both sticky and tannic dusty. Love it. So intoxicating in its richness.

Bottled October 30, 2012.
Appearance: Opaque black in the glass, but it pours a clear mahogany, not very dark at all, with a thin tan head that quickly settles into a thin coating with a dense ring.
Aroma: Tobacco and chocolate come to mind with hints of coconut and bourbon. After a moment roasted malts appear, very enticing.
Taste: Tobacco, coconut and bourbon are strong, the finish is a bit watery with hints of bourbon. Hints of coffee underlay the barrel notes. The finish is bourbon.
Palate: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: This is a bit thin and lacking in malt backing. Too much barrel here, almost fantastic.

From bottle. Black pour with light tan head. Crisp scent of molasses, chocolate, and bourbon. Taste is sharply crisp, with a tobacco bite, strong bourbon, and coffee. Mouthfeel is lighter than I’d prefer for the style.
