3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 arrogantb (1398) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 22, 2012
Picked up a bottle mostly based off of Firestone Walker’s rep, $15. Standard stout appearance, the first glass I poured had a head but each subsequent refill did not. Aroma was weird, peanuts, touch of whiskey (or bourbon), and astringent alcohol, not nice. The flavor was better, very subtle coffee notes, whiskey and a really cool peanut butter and chocolate combo. Overall I was pretty let down by this after loving FW barrel aged beers. Maybe this was an old bottle and the coffee has faded?
edit: just checked the bottle and it is dated 08/30/12 so this was not an old bottle by any means bummer

Rich and milky, strong chocolate flavor. It's superior with its cocoa flavor. The beer also has some coffee-espresso flavor, the palate is silly smooth

Chocolate, coffee and toffee nose mix with a rich bourbon barrel aroma. Fruity with plum and raisin that finishes smooth with the bourbon flavor.

Bottle courtesy of Ray. Pours a viscous black with thick mocha head. Very chocolatey with notes of vanilla, bourbon, and oak. Real solid.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Argonaut Denver. I’ve been looking forward to trying this for quite a while. Pours a midnight black appearance with a dark brown head. Rich chocolate, caramel, a fit fruity (grape/plum), big coffee aroma. Thick dark chocolate bar, roasty and fresh coffee, big vanilla, a bit boozy whiskey, moderately fruity flavor with a somewhat boozy finish. Tastes excellent but it is a bit strong on the finish.

Awesome aromas. Fantastic flavors. Overall a very good stout. Fire stone brews good beer

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. This is a great chocolate, toasty imperial stout. A very enjoyable caramel maltiness, the sweet to balance the bitter and roast. Very good beer.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 symmetric (33) - - OCT 9, 2012
Delicious cherry, alcohol, chocolate, slight banana on the nose. Thin head dissipating quickly to leave an inky black liquid. I’m looking for a bit more head in a stout. Taste is very sweet, with a slight bitter edge. Mouthfeel is very syrupy, very low carbonation. Overall a solid sweet imperial stout if you drink with eyes closed, but the presentation could be greatly improved.

Bottled@Chriso "Donkey Dork Lord" pre-gbbf shindig 2011. I think this rating might take the price for me in hard encryption on my rating. More or less pitch black colour with a small beigeish brown head that vanishes quickly. Aroma is roast, alcohol, coffee and liquorice. Flavour is coffee and roast. Big and beautiful imperial stout.
