1/25/2013. Pours black with a thin, brown head. Aroma is incredible; so much coffe, cappuccino, espresso, vanilla. Taste caught me slightly off-guard. Highly acidic, black coffee, burnt coffee beans, roast, bourbon. Medium carbonation. Aggressive, full-bodied mouth feel. This stout is incredibly aggressive; it stings a bit on the tongue. The barrel aging really helps to calm this beer down, if even just a bit. But I enjoyed this and could drink it often.

22 oz bomber. The pour is a dark dark brown, not quite black with some ruby or garnet showing through. There is a small darker khaki head that fades down, just leaving a ring. The aroma is very strong on a barrel presence. I love the roasted malt and a beautiful dark fruit and licorice. The flavor is just as good. It's more based on the malts and dark fruits. The coffee isn't really apparent until the back end. I love the woodiness and the subtle vanilla. The mouth feel is thick and creamy, with a medium carbonation and a lingering roasty aftertaste that is part coffee, part malt, and all delicious ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle in Vegas, baby! Hotel tasting. Very dark maroon brown color, beige head. Aroma of huge roast, stewed figs, raisins, vanilla. Nice chewy body. Good stuff.

Aroma of coffee, roast, chocolate with moderate esters. Appearance is black with a tan head with poor head retention. Flavor coffee is present and not overpowering. Roast is smooth. Bitterness balances the sweetness of this high gravity beer. Mouthfeel is silky and medium-high. Carbonation is medium-low. Overall, a great smooth tasting imperial coffee stout. Will buy again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Amount off coffee is great but I would like a different bean or roast. but lacking in head retention. That is understandable. Coffee gives enough bitterness on its own. with saying that I would like less bittering hops. One if the best coffee RIS I have had ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 ounce bottle, date stamp on bottle says 11/22/13. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both OK. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, dark fruit (cherries, plums), vanilla, wood and some bourbon. It tastes like milk and dark chocolate, roasted malt, oak, dark fruit (plums, raisins), red grapes/wine, molasses, coffee, and a bit of bourbon. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s creamy and coating with moderate carbonation. The 11% ABV is hidden well, doesn’t seem too boozy to me. Overall I liked this brew, it’s a good imperial stout. I think the flavors seem more fruity and sweet than roasty. I’d like to try this one again in the future. $15.49 a bottle.

Taster at Aces and Ales. Pours nearly black with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, brown bread. Taste is fairly sweet and malty with some dark chocolate and coffee bitterness. Grassy hop bitter in the finish.

Shared 750 ml. bottle, poured to snifters showing a black/brown hue, with some ruby highlighting at the stem, decent, brownish tan head foam, and spotty cling to the lacing. The nose was roasted, with subtle notes of coffee & cocoa, sweetness, and dark fruit as prune. Medium+ bodied, with soft carbonation, the taste offered some molasses sweetness, then boozy warmth, and lingering, pronounced hop & barrel astringency that were both smoothed just enough by some creaminess to the mouthfeel. Very nice!

On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours deep brownish black with thin oily mocha-colored head. Aroma is dark charred roasty malts, lighter notes of dark chocolate, soy sauce, and coffee. Taste is similar, though the dark chocolate, mocha, and espresso notes come on much quicker and stronger. Mouthfeel is a bit lighter than expected, but does not affect the taste as tons of rich flavors come through. Some notes of port and bourbon on the finish, though not the huge barrel-aged flavors you often see in the style. Amazingly rich imperial stout.
