3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Firestone Walker Taproom, Buellton. A clear, dark brown beer with a small, off-white to light beige head. The aroma is lightly roasted, with caramel and some chocolate notes. Low on hoppy aromas and flavors, some bitterness though. Caramel, caramel malts and some chocolate and coffee hints. Medium body, soft carbonation, quite dry. Short finish. A bit boring, like most brown ales, not bad in any way though. 130809

Cool these are in NC now. Pours a clean and soft reddish brown with one finger of creamy cacao colored head. Nose is very nice, soft sweet malts with a nice caramel component and sweet biscuity background. Some earthy and lightly toasted grain as well. Nice raisiny, caramelly, bready sweet flavor. Dark round fruits with sweet malt and a hint of toasted grain. Medium bodied with a very light hop character and subtle carbonation.

Bottle. Nutty brown sugar malt aroma. Clear chestnut with a moderate beige head, moderate lacing. Similar to the nose with nutty brown sugar malt flavor. Light body, average carbonation. Solid brown ale. I think this would be a good pizza beer.

Bottle. Smooth is a good way of describing this one. Taste is roasted nuts, caramel and charred wood. Decent.

bottle. Brown with small head. Drinking hemp makes me feel a bit like a dirty hippie. This is pretty tasty though. Very smooth brown ale

12 oz. bottle purchased @ Top Shelf Brews, Hampton, NH. Aroma is caramel malts, nuttiness, with some brown sugar. Flavor is consistent with aroma, with a thin body. I don’t really know what hemp should smell or taste like but… I don’t pick up anything extra in this ale.

Dark brown-red pour. Nearly non existent head. Body is a bit syrupy. Not enough carbonation, or something. Flavor is mild with a lot of malt sweetness. A slight burnt finish. Some alcohol comes through. Heavier than I expected.
