Bottle. Deep brown colored body with a light tan colored head. The nose is rich with caramel and a nutty note that I equate with the hemp. There is just a touch of pears. I get flavors of strong toffee and black tea up front with my first drink. As this warms I got some toast and a little bit more fruity sweetness, almost raisin like. A nicely done brown ale.

Creamy sweet aroma but heavy brown color. Foamy tan head that settles down after a minute. Nutty vanilla malt taste with a smooth after taste. I love it. Would eat with kettle corn. For some reason that’s what hits me.

Bottle at Lincoln Wine Bar. A deep red beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet with a bit of pine and grapefruit. The flavor is sweet malt with notes of dark fruit, plum and cherry.

Tried this at Cullen’s Pub in Benicia, Ca. Not very complex. Didn’t taste much like a brown. More like a pale ale with some hemp flavor.

Bottle. Moderate roasted and nutty for the malt, light herbs for the yeast, faint dough and earth for the yeast, with a hint of toffee. Head is small, fizzy, off-white with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is dark brown. Flavor starts slightly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, slick with a lively carbonation. Not big fan of Brown Ales, and this one is just drinkable.

12oz bottle from ABC on Betton. Ruby-brown pour with a pillowy off-white head. Aroma is nutty, toasty and spice. Tastes are rye, milk chocolate, brown malts, earthy.

I love the mouthfeel of this beer. It’s really light and creamy on the palate but still packs a decent brown ale flavor punch! It’s very smooth on the tongue and finishes a nice hint of bitterness. Tasty and pretty complex - I’m surprised by the fairly low scores here!

Bottles and tried on tap at Joe Canals a couple years back when they changed their name. Pours deep brown with light beige head, nose was pine, earth, toffee, nuts and some malts. Flavor was floral hops, light spice, caramel, bitter cocoa and roasted nuts. Wish the real stuff was in this one, oh well, theres always extract.

Bottle. Nose is pleasantly roasty and chocolaty, pours deep dark brown with an ephemeral beige head. Taste is lightly sweet with light bitterness (good balance here), earth and chocolate and light caramel, some light fruit in the back and faint hops. Smooth, inky feel in the fullish body. Very easy-going, very nice.

Poured a finger and half of head on a dark amber colored body.
The aroma is earthy with some grain. A nice smell I had encountered in a beer before.
The taste has a metallic tone with vegetables and malt. It’s interesting.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
The metallic and vegetable taste did not work for me.
