COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boasting a ruby hue and an exquisite floral aroma, Red Nectar is a robust yet elegant brew with distinctive accents of toasted malt, caramel, spice and residual sweetness. The beer that started it allÖ Red Nectar was considered a strange bird when it was first released in 1987. After all, where did a robust, handcrafted all-natural amber ale fit into the massive flock of American industrial lagers? Answer: it didnít. So it blazed its own trail, helping set the pace for the craft brew revolution. Enjoy Red Nectar for its dazzling reddish copper hue, original flavors and caramel spice accents. (Editorís Note: originally brewed by Humboldt Brewing Company as "Humboldt Red Nectar Ale" until their acquisition by Firestone Walker.)

Pint on tap. Beautiful copper color, clear, its medium head fades to a little collar. Good lacing, nice light and malty aroma. Nice crispy taste, pretty balanced but it errs towards hoppy and thin on the palate. Itís totally respectable as an amber ale.

Dark Reddish Brown, Medium Head Did Not Last, Decent Lacing. Faint Malt Aroma. Malt, Slightly Sweet, Stale Hops, Bitter Finish. Medium Body, Slightly Buttery, Creamy. No Dates, Probably Slightly Out Of Date. Still Drinkable but ... Might Want To try It Fresh, Otherwise Pass It...

12 Oz bottle. Brown red body, off white head. Roasted barley and caramel nose. Smells like fresh wort. Smooth carbonation, taste are great caramel malt with slightly acidic finish. Flavors are less complex than Iím looking for but a solid red.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 6/12/2013. Pours slightly cloudy orange copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, grapefruit, orange zest, brown sugar, biscuit, floral, grass, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of malt and hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, grapefruit, orange zest, brown sugar, floral, grass, light pine, light nuttiness, and floral/toasted earthiness. Light pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, citrus, biscuit, floral, and light nuttiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of malt and hop flavors; with a very balanced hop/malt flavor profile and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body with a lightly creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice amber ale. Good balance and robustness of malt and hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Advent beer #12 - 12oz bottle. Firestone walker was involved: expectations raised. Caramel and honey/floral. Sweet with slight bitter finish. Very easy to drink. Does not pair well with dry salami. Bitterness gets stronger with every sip.

Reddish/brown color with a good off-whiter head. Malty aroma with a little pine. Flavor has more hops than I thought. A little acidity and a little roastiness/nuttiness. Thereís a slight astringincey in the beer that isnít quite so smooth, but itís still easy to drink.
