COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boasting a ruby hue and an exquisite floral aroma, Red Nectar is a robust yet elegant brew with distinctive accents of toasted malt, caramel, spice and residual sweetness. The beer that started it all… Red Nectar was considered a strange bird when it was first released in 1987. After all, where did a robust, handcrafted all-natural amber ale fit into the massive flock of American industrial lagers? Answer: it didn’t. So it blazed its own trail, helping set the pace for the craft brew revolution. Enjoy Red Nectar for its dazzling reddish copper hue, original flavors and caramel spice accents. (Editor’s Note: originally brewed by Humboldt Brewing Company as "Humboldt Red Nectar Ale" until their acquisition by Firestone Walker.)

Bottled. Pours a very still, golden copper colour. The aroma is overwhelmingly of hops, but nice. A light palate that seems a bit thin and watery to me.

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good for the style; a transparent amber with off-white lacing. Smells and tastes solid; sweet and somewhat hoppy with notes of caramel and toasted malt. Average on he palate. Solid beer.

12oz bottle. Clear ruby red color. Nice thin khaki head. Decent spread of lace. Medium body. Nice smooth lighter carbonation. Lightly dry texture. Good floral hop aroma, toasted malt, light spice. Good light bitter taste, less sweet. Just a light hint of toasty metallic. Good, refreshing amber - red ale.

12oz bottle shared. Poured deep ruby red almost mahogany. Aroma is malty goodness. The flavor is complex believe it or not. Nice medium malt backbone and some spiciness to it. There is some caramel in there as well one of the better ambers i have had.

Bottle. Poured clear dark ruby hue with medium frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Medium aroma of hop and sweet malt. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Well balanced flavor of malt and hop flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew.

Orange-copper, clear, beige head. Moderate aroma of bready malt with toffee. Flavor is malty with bread crusts, toasty notes, some toffee, a very light fruity note and just enough bitterness to prevent it from being too sweet. A good malty amber.

Well carbonated pour thick fluffy off white head over a red body. Avg pal. Malty grainy aroma like a red pale ale. Easy drinking a touch of grass in the finish. Enjoyable.
