3fourths (8499) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 16, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 21, 2013 bottle at the brewery in Forchheim. so what we have is a very smoky brauerei hall and the keller bier only available in bottles, so thinking "ok let’s tick it and get out of here". the ratings don’t look that high anyway, and bottle keller bier tends to suffer. instead this one was magically juicy and full of both malt and hop expression: spice and apricot nectar hop aroma and flavor, matched bitterness to the sweetish pale malt, with a soft doughy layer of which rounds out the edges. great comfort in the malt texture and carbonation, both very soft. toasted cereals, lemon juice, cheese rind, grassy / green wet hop character, very surprising to find a 4.0+ bottled keller bier. great shape during my visit.

From the barrel. Poured into a ceramic mug with an off white head. Pale malts, yeast, light woody notes, and a light floral bitterness. Very clean finish, crisp and delicious.

Bottle @ Mega Bavarian Beer Tasting in Schlitz. A little burnt orange appearance with an off white head. Quite toasty grainy, caramel malty, straw aroma. Chewy, delicious caramel, toasty malty, rich malty, grassy flavor. Nice.

My bottle 5.2% abv, marked 1.9.2012. Sweet sweet nose reminds me startlingly of yellow vanilla cake mix and icing. Orange body with a white head. Semi-sweet taste with a low strain of bitterness, there’s some good quenching malt here with light cracker, faint herbal and grassy tones. Crisp light-medium body, lovely swirls of malt layers to tongue through. Super repeatable. Talk about a beer that confounded expectations!

50cl bottle from Bierzwerg. Poured slightly hazy, orange/amber color with a thin white head. Strong earthy, malty aroma. Flavor is caramel, weak roastedness and grainy notes. Finish is dry with some earthy notes. Excellent kellerbier.

Koelschtrinker (12275) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 9, 2011
Gut! 10/11/12/12/12/12

Bottle 50cl. Amber coloured cloudy brew with slight smoke smell and taste. Typical Franconian style Lager, nice, fresh, quaffable. Nice yeast lacing. Great stuff.

Grima (2176) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - DEC 17, 2010
500ml bottle! In the glass is a bronze-colored beer with a flat, fine crown. The smell is revealed sweetly malty, subtle yeasty. Starts malty, floral and a little fresh chestnuts. The aftertaste is yeasty ferment, just as with a good, typical Unfiltered. The further course is clear fruity, orange comes through and offers a good fermented note. The whole thing is very subtle sour, the sweet aromas always retains the upper hand here.

Bottle, at Plan B. It pours a clear, golden body under a small, off-white head. Diacetyl and some dms, grains and a nice fruityness on the nose. A bit too unclean. The flavor follows the same path, with too much dms and diacetyl, finishing bitter and dry. Not as much dms and diacetyl as in the aroma though. Medium body fullness. A halfway decent beer, wonder how it’s fresh from the brewery. 100508
