Grimy dark brown with a white head. Delicious grainy sour milk aroma. Taste is dark fruit, sweet malt, a little sourness, and a sharp, lasting bitter finish. Top beer. Loved it.

Bottled: Fruity malty flavor, notes of molasse, cand and cough syrup. MEdium sweet. Quite dry and bitter finish with intensive roasted malt componentes. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of molasse and fruit. Tasty brew.

Impressions from the Gaststübe:
-Ample head sits over the opaque blackness.
-Roasted malt bitterness and molasses efficiently attract in both aroma and flavor profile.
-Huge malts and perfect carbonation make for a smashing body.
-Dark chocolate and nuts roam in this very fine schwarzbier.
-Not the most complex example, but it’s so rich and satisfying!

From the bottle at the brewery.

Draught at GBBF 2005. Dark brown coloured. Quite hazy. Very malty profile and sweet finish. A nice Schwarzbier. Very complex and soft.

GBBF draught. Brown appearance. Big caramel aroma. Caramel flavour with interesting rancid bits. Vanilla. Nice bits. An enjoyable drink. Refreshing. Marmite and balsamic vinegar. Bananas. This gets better the more I drink it. Nice one.

Dark caramel/burgundy colour. Huge lacing appears on top of the beige head. Fruity and sweet nose with highly floral aromatics. Blue grapes come across as an original dominant flavour. Cherry and light caramel back it all. Earthy and almost salty taste profile acts as a balancing lever between the gentle roastiness and the blue grapes fruitiness. Medium bodied, strongly malty, lightly earthy, powdery body. Fine example.

GBBF 2003, tap: Caramelly, syrup-like nose. Deep auburn color and a low tight head. Slow start, with a big sweet middle like brown sugar. Toffee tones too. Very late arriving hop bitterness that is spicy on the front of the tongue. Fairyl substantial body. Too sweet for me, but a quality beer all around.
