3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Much better than it's brewery-mate (Corona). This beer is good with or without a lime. I especially like the almost-chocolatey undertones.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
A not-so bad lager. Dark caramel/red color with a thin white head. Light malty aroma. Flavor is sweet and malty, though thin like the body. If this was cheaper, it would make a good macroswill.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A darker caramel and richer chocolate flavor than Dos Equis. I would prefer the latter--it is a bit cleaner. Not bad though.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: SEP 23, 2007 Not bad, usually the best you can find at a Mexican place. Amber brown, fizzy short lasting head. Some light, smooth slightly toasted malts, touch of bitterness on finish. Hair of adjunct flavor in the back.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JUL 22, 2003 Was my favorite of the Mexican beers until I discovered XX Amber. Deep red with not much head to speak of. Malts are obvious. Slightly funky finish but nothing bad.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had this along with a corona while eating Mexican, and cannot believe the contrast...best Mexican beer I know of. Dark ruby, malty, fruity, and sweet.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Mildly sweet & malty with a watery thin body. Lightly bitter at the end with an unpleasant sour aftertaste.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tastes cheap. Sweet, kinda corny, I suppose better than your average American brewski as far as actual flavour, but too much of it makes me feel kinda ill (to be fair, it wasn't very cold). I actually poured half of it in the sink, which I hardly ever do. Not refreshing, more like one of those sweet malt-pops you sometimes find in Israeli restaurants.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear brown with a coarse bubbled head that disappears quickly. Malty, musty aroma with a hint of hops. Thin bodied, fairly well balanced, somewhat sweet with a measure of hops. As others have noted, the best Mexican beer out there.

I really cant get too excited about drinking Negra Modelo. I find it to be one of the better Mexican beers, but that still doesn’t say a whole lot. This beer pours an average sized head that quickly disappears; it has a watery body, a sweat aroma, and a slightly bitter finish. I will continue to drink it at Mexican restaurants, but only there.
