This dark vienna-munich type beer has had extraordinary acceptance in international markets. Exports to the U.S. began in the early 80´s, and have since attained great success in Europe, Australia, Central and South America.

A Vienna Style Lager from the heart of Mexico. I like Negra Modelo more than any other Mexican offering that I've tasted. The nice, dark color and the slightly hoppy nose are a nice change from the flavorless Corona and Pacifico. The beer has some malt character and a bit of body. Quite nice, but I like it well chilled.

Bottle: Dark solor but you´d expect a stronger body. Malty, with sweet tones and slightly bitter. Slightly above the average mexican beer.

This one pours an amber color with a small tan head that quickly dissipates and leaves almost no lacing on the glass. The aroma was a little hoppy with some small hints of malt, but nothing very strong. The body is pretty thin. This one was surprisingly easy to drink for a Mexican beer and I liked it better than a lot of the other Mexi beers I've had. Nothing too wonderful to point out in the taste, but it is enjoyable.

I had the opportunity so I tried it. It's a "Fizzy Yellow Beer" on steroids. The flavor of MGD times 2.

Overall a pretty light malty lager. Some nice caramel and fruit notes on the aroma. Slightly sweet with fruit coming out on the finish. Tasty quaffable stuff, when nothing else is available.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2004 Probably my favorite mass-produced beer brewed in Mexico. Slight caramel flavor from the malts, average mouthfeel. Some bottles are metallic in flavor. Inconsistent; best when served cold.

Orange-amber body with tons of carbonation and a ripply whitish head. Leathery malt and herbal aroma. Cherry malt flavor, moderate sweetness, and low bitterness. Fizzy, medium-bodied beer. My beer of choice with Chile Rellenos.

Negra Modelo pours a transparent burnt amber color with a minimal head. The aroma is mostly of caramel and malts, with a touch of hops, but just a touch. The taste is very clean, with a surprisingly rich caramel profile. The roastiness of the malts is evident, and the hops finish the taste quite nicely. Not much is left on the finish, and the aftertatse is just a slight earthy grainiess. The mouthfeel is typical lager, not thin but not robust. The carbonation is a bit harsh on the palate as well.

No head, slight lacing on the glass. Malty nose, leading to a toffee-vanilla sweet finish. A Vienna style beer from Mexico. Putting a lime in this beer would make no sense as there is no skunk to cover up. Come on people, this is ONLY a Mexican beer because it is made in Mexico. in acuallity it is one of the few remaining Vienna style beers commercialy available. Very drinkable, sweet beer.
