This dark vienna-munich type beer has had extraordinary acceptance in international markets. Exports to the U.S. began in the early 80´s, and have since attained great success in Europe, Australia, Central and South America.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2004 Clear, dark amber color with hardly any head. Aroma is sweet caramel-malty, perfumed, and almost port-wineous - but still quite thin. Taste is caramel-malty, clean and sweet. Light to medium-bodied, oily and moderately carbonated palate. A dark lager brewed with Mexican standards. Quite strange but ok.

Bottle. To be honest, I drank it out of the bottle, so I'll just assume the appearance is average. A bit of a malty aroma. Taste is nothing special, but you can taste the malt a little. This is certainly a good alternative to drinking a crap American lager. With food it was very good.

Tasted in Toronto. Picked up in Las Vegas. Tasted in Lager glass. Tasted at 5C (48F). Appearance is clear. Obvious carbonation. Colour is medium brownish red/copper. Sustained thin white head. Malty sweet aroma. Hints of caramel and chocolate. Slight bitterness in the aroma also but very very subtle. Tastse is watery and bland. Up front bitterness with a slightly pungent malty taste.

The best Mexican dark beer by far. Very foamy. Refreshing. Well balance. Good aroma. It can be drink with almost any kind of food.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2009 The appearance may not be perfect and the aroma is strong, but still leaves something to be desired. The taste is what makes this a great beer and, when it comes down to it, that should be what matters anyway. My only hope is that it is soon imported to my part of the world.

One of the beers I order when dining in a Mexican restaurant. Goes great with the food. Looks good, with a dark body and tan head. Some aroma of caramel and malts. Flavor is nothing remarkable but it is tasty and is a good choice for the food.

Amber in color, as far as commercial beers from Mexico go this is by far the best. Mild maltyness, somewhat thin in body. I've noticed that the label in some places that I've had it (Illinois?) bill it as a "dark ale" while most everywhere else it is billed as a "dark beer". When dining out at a mexican resturant, this is your best choice, but make sure to let the waiter/waitress know that if there is a lime anywhere near it when they serve it there will be no tip.

Deep brown coloring with virtually no head. Pretty thin for a dark beer, but it went very well with my Mexican food.

I was just trying something new..didn't realize it was a dark beer. I was surprised it was a dark beer. Turned out it wasn't bad. Rather thin and watery for a dark but nevertheless, it's ok. I would drink again. Oh, if you get this is a restraunt and then try to stick a lime in it give them a look of horror and tell em to shove the lime where it belongs - in a Corona. The lime will kill this beer!
